One of my favorite Christmas movies to watch was the Muppet Christmas Carol, but in recent years no channel seems to air it. what gives?

maybe certain people from a certain "news" network have been successful in shutting down The Muppets

Thankfully the DVD is easy to find this time of the year, at least in my neck of the woods it is, almost all the stores have it in stock.
The best thing about the DVD, is that you can choose to watch the theatrical version or the extended version which has the song "When Love is Gone" restored. a song which I feel is one of the most touching songs ever, and it was a crime that it was removed from the film in the first place (lousy Disney). The only downside is the extended version is in full screen.

It's actually my favorite version of the tale by a large margin.

The only downside is the extended version is in full screen. It seemed silly to have it taken out, given that it ties into the final song and is then sung over the credits; plus, the scene is only a couple minutes extra with it. I was glad to find it on YouTube, I hadn't seen it in years. It really does hold up well, and Michael Caine is obviously an extraordinary screen actor. I set up a mini-marathon this year where I watched this, Mister Magoo's Christmas Carol, and Mickey's Christmas Carol all in a row.

Just saw it for the first time ever.
I still prefer George C. Scott's version, but I definately understand why so many people love this one. A great movie!

There?s only one true version of A Christmas Carol, and that's the Blackadder version!
Seriously though, the Muppet version is damn good, and up until the recent newest film could be considered the best post-Henson Muppet movie.

I only watch it on dvd with "When love is gone". It's how I first saw it on VHS as a kid and was surprised it's not the usual version.

The UK are airing it tomorrow, I believe, just like they did last year.
"When Love is Gone", the most emotional part of the entire freakin' film, will be cut again though.

I'm surprised ABC Family (owned by Disney) doesn't air more Muppets Christmas stuff - or just more Muppets stuff period.
