Something that's always bugged me about Iron Man.
He refuses to build weapons for S.H.I.E.L.D. or the Government, yet it's okay to build weapons for himself and his friends.
I mean I personally think it reeks of hypocracy, like he thinks he's above the law of the U.S. (There is no way the Iron Man suit would be legal in the real world.)
I mean has he ever been called out for this attitude?

I'm more annoyed by his dad being a total bastard in Iron Man 2, basically ruining his partner's life because he was cutting into his profit margin. Doesn't help that Captain America made him pretty likable.

The Senator played by Gary Shandling wanted Stark to give the government the Iron Man suit.

Doesn't help that Captain America made him pretty likable. Well, with that, it's likely years of trying (in vain) to find Cap likely did a number to Howard, causing him emotional grief. At least, that's what I'm getting out of it. As for the weapons for him and his hero pals. I'm assuming that Stark trusts his peers in the superhero community that they won't mess around with the weapons, and doesn't want the US Government or SHIELD doing questionable things with it.

Doesn't help that Captain America made him pretty likable. See, I just don't know about this. Wasn't his partner a traitor and two-timing thieving bastard himself? Seriously, please remind me of any hard evidence that the partner presented that Howard was completely and totally guilty for ruining his life, and not that he brought it on himself with his double dealing (with the Russians if I recall?)

But he still helped create the Arc reactor, and Howard had him deported just because he wanted to make money of something he helped create.
