BEWARE.
baxterholmes At the UCLA game, dude just proposed to his girlfriend, and she ran away. Wow.
baxterholmes "I knew I was going to do this the first day I met you," the guy told his lady. She stared at him for a minute, then left.
baxterholmes Some people are asking me if that runaway proposal was staged. I just asked. A UCLA spokesman said it wasn't.
baxterholmes Safe to say his holiday plans are ruined.
Video will surely follow soon.

Proposing to your woman in front of a mass of people = bad idea in general.
Still feel real sorry for the dude.

Someone FINALLY didn't say yes at one of these? Wow.
I always figured these things usually went fine because you know you don't propose at a game unless your girl is as big a fan as you are, or at least you know her as somebody who's fine in front of crowds.
Having something like that blow up in your face probably shows a lack of knowledge about one's girlfriend.

I am of the mind he doesn't love her that much if he took her to a f***ing basketball game.

Whatever happened to putting the ring in a muffin? Then, even if she rejects, it won't be all over YouTube. Hell, if she swallows it, it's just one more adorable story you can tell the kids on your tenth anniversary.

You'd think they would have had the marriage discussion beforehand.

LMAO @ the mascot's reaction to the girl walking away, and T-Mac's reaction to the whole thing. A proposal should not be in front of thousands of people.

Hey, his fault for putting her on the spot like that and running that risk.

Good. Honestly, I find it insulting to put your girlfriend on the spot infront of thousands.

A couple of thoughts:
1) I'm willing to bet that most of the guys that try to propose in front of large crowds are banking on the theory that she will be pressured to say "yes."
2) How do you come back from that level of rejection/embarrassment?
3) Dumbass.

Time for me to play Devils Advocate again I guess...
"Man, I love this girl so much. But how can I give her a proposal she'll never forget? This is meant to be a big moment after all! ... I've got it! We both love Basketball and we both went to the Univeristy of California! So I'll take her to this game and during the half time, I'll surprise her and propose! To do it in front of so many people, will show my dedication and love to her! This will be the best proposal ever!"
Because it's totally fair to jump to the conclusion that the guy is an asshole because he wants to marry a woman he loves...

I remember reading that alot of times when the woman says yes, backstage it's a different reaction and it's really no.

I remember seeing a youtube video awhile back that had a bunch of televised rejected marriage proposals (from sports games, talk shows, etc.) strung together. The commenters thought most of them were largely fake or staged.
