Wrestling Fans: The only group of people in the world who almost unanimously complain when they are given MORE of their product.
3 hour Raws have tended to suck simply because they were, for the most part, drug down by a terrible gimmick surrounding them.
I would like to at least see what a 3 hour show looks like without it being some gimmicked show before I get all butthurt about it.
Of course I watch every week on DVR and FFWD through what I don't like, so it really makes no difference to me anyway.

It's WCW all over again, only without the awesome cruiserweight matches and Ric Flair elbowing his coat. Surely they realise that going to 3 hours was one of WCW's biggest mistakes? And like someone said earlier, that's 3 hours of RAW, 2 hours of Smackdown, an hour of Superstars and an hour of NXT. If they start RAW by having nWo music play then I swear to god I'm living in 1998.

I can't wait once this bombs if they do what TNA did and say something like 'We heard you loud and clear WWE Universe, and because of your input, we are going BACK to 2 hours! CUTTING OUT THE FILLER! SAY GOODBYE TO EPICO!'

Oh good lord no. 3 hour shows always drag and are usually terrible.

Go watch the Extreme Rules go home show (a themeless three hour Raw) without fast forwarding and you'll see that it starts to drag towards the last third of the show. Also, Nitro has taught us that a weekly three hour wrestling show is too much.

Surely they realise that going to 3 hours was one of WCW's biggest mistakes? I love the thought process that somehow WCW might have been able to hold off the WWF's surge if they had kept Nitro at 2 hours. It had nothing to do with the rise of Austin, his feud with McMahon, the nWo becoming stale, WCW refusing to adapt...nope it's because Nitro went to three hours.

johncena: STARTING Monday Night July 23 @usa_NETWORK WILL BE ADDING A 3RD HOUR TO wwe MONDAY NIGHT RAW - PERMANENTLY. #3hourRaw Huge mistake. Oh boy. IF... IF... WWE uses this to elevate the midcard and develop more stories, good. But, I fear the show is going to become very bloated and boring. Much like Nitro did after a while. At least with Nitro you got to see actual wrestling matches involving the cruiserweight title, US title, television title, and of course the tag team titles.

It would be like if a drama series that tends to drag but you find yourself watching anyway decided they needed to add another hour to recap and show full scenes from last week's episode.

So Triple H can have a 40-minute opening promo? This was the exact joke I was going to make, dammit.

Just make it Superstars with live promos instead of recaps and you're good.

If they do it right , This could be amazing. Imagine a raw with a twenty minute Punk/Ohno War and a Fifteen minute Ambrose/Bryan war. Just imagine it....Because it's not going to happen.
Hope you like more Recaps and Cena Promos.

Three hour shows are usually AWFUL. Three hour Raws almost always get WORSE ratings than normal Raws. I just... I don't understand. We're certainly not going to see more wrestling if previous three hour Raws are any indication.

I think you're romanticizing WCW a wee bit there. I seem remember more of those belts doing nothing but hanging over shoulders of nWo guys in their street clothes as they slowly sauntered to the ring.

I said ONE of their mistakes. The biggest was them not ending the nWo while they were hot. Obviously Starrcade 1997 was a disaster as well. But you go ahead and take my post out of context to justify your own argument.

I find it absolutely hilarious that the WWE will be putting out a 3-hour wrestling show on Monday's for free, and then will still expect people to pay $45 to see a 3-hour wrestling show on Sundays.
For this to even remotely work, the WWE is going to have to start utilising alot more of its roster and start giving the midcard more time, gimmicks and storylines. I have very little faith that the WWE can do this, since they already have 4 hours of programming (not including NXT and Superstars because not many people watch them) every week and haven't been doing it, what difference does an extra hour have?
I can't see this working out at all. They already pad out 2-hour Raw's with unecessary recaps, commercials and pointless backstage segments. Now there's an extra hour added on to that?

We're certainly not going to see more wrestling if previous three hour Raws are any indication. On the go-home show for Extreme Rules, I'm pretty sure they showed that Brock interview three times. I'd love to believe that the WWE are going to use this to elevate the undercard, but it just isn't happening.
