Hope you end up doing better than me. I was accepted to the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale my senior year of high school. My own self criticizing of my drawings pretty much killed my interest unfortunately. I've maybe drawn 2-3 times since high school. Heck, my wife has never seen me draw and she's known me for 8 years.

Maybe one day...

This. I was f***ing HOOKED on dinosaurs when I was kid. I badly wanted to dig them, and other ancient creatures, up for a living.

This is how serious I was about dinos as a kid. I knew what the hell Archaeopteryx was when I was like 7. Even knew how to properly pronounce it and stuff. And this was something not taught in school. I had to research it my own self.

And then as I got into middle school it shifted towards more of being an Archeologist, namely because at this time Ancient Egypt(hell all of the Ancient Mediterranean) became more my thing.

Then in high school it shifted to just plain old human history in general, with then end of high school shifting to writing/drawing, which I pursued my first year of college(writing at least), and then that shifted to game development.

So I went from Paleontologist to Archeologist, to History, to the arts, and finally to making video games.

The funny thing is I ALMOST did have a career somewhat relating to history. While I was in high school, West Point reached out to me, because of my knowledge in history(particularly my knowledge in military history).
