Seriously, unless I'm missing somebody they're like the last BIG name band to hold out. Looks like I'm going to have to order through Amazon, since the FYE by my place is surprisingly useless when it comes to older AC/DC music... Really all it seemed like they had was the Iron Man 2 soundtrack, irritatingly enough.

Because most of their fanbase hasn't gone past cassette tapes?

I believe their primary complaint is that they don't want people to buy just individual songs off of their albums. When they want people to buy their music, they want people to buy the entire album. Also, Kid Rock, Bob Seger, Tool, and Black Sabbath (pre-Dio) aren't available on iTunes either.

Somewhat related- I think the rock genre, especially some of its old guard, has a dated attitude in that sense. We're in the digital era, and of course music fans will choose the option of downloading individual songs- it's only natural. I hope this doesn't sound blasphemous, but I feel that a lot of rock bands should turn their eye more towards singles, rather than simply being solely album-focused. Album oriented rock acts understandably had more weight in the marketplace in the 90's because physical albums were the standard, and in the digital era the market understandably shifted more towards R&B and pop acts, who are usually more singles focused. (That's not a complaint, as I'm mostly an R&B fan.) I love AC/DC, but they seriously need to get with it.

Is it really a big deal? Their albums aren't that expensive and it is super easy to rip them. I have had them ripped for 10 years, it seems like a non-issue to me (same as when the Beatles were added to iTunes).

We rely too much on downloading now, and if it can't be downloaded, are we really that out of luck?

I knew about AC/DC's feelings on Itunes, but hell, they certainly released singles, but never to this day a proper Greatest Hits album. However they did make a deal with Wal Mart for their last album and I believe that it's also the reason why we hear Back in Black in their stupid commercials nowadays.

Well, still it's not an actual compilation album of their studio work is what I mean. Some people kinda halfway consider the soundtrack to Maximum Overdrive as a greatest hits too, but AC/DC live is GREAT. A shame they hardly seem to touch the 80's stuff anymore except for the Back in Black album and For Those About To Rock

I could understand a band like Tool feeling this way (although I think they're just very tight with their music rights), but AC/DC is kind of....song oriented? Kind of strange coming from them.

With a band like Tool, you're not just buying the CD, you're also getting some really neat packaging/artwork.

It's weird that they want people to just get the whole albums. Because I have the 'Iron Man 2' soundtrack which is essentially a best of AC/DC album, and it does not have Hell Bells or Long Way To The Top on it.
So they are OK with Best of Albums but selling their songs individually.... Ugh.

Not any of his studio stuff though. Really? Because I just got "Against the Wind" You must've gotten it from his greatest hits album. If we were to use that logic, then you could get Back in Black off of the Iron Man 2 soundtrack. But let's not get this heated here. Either way, I personally think that bands like AC/DC should just say, "Screw it, let's make our stuff more accessible and put it out on iTunes. We'll make more money that way." And if they really wanted people to buy the entire album, then they should make it so that people could only buy the entire album, and not individual tracks.

They would at least make money this way, unlike getting fans to download it elsewhere or buying used albums to get a few specific songs they want.

You would think they would. They should really "listen to the money talk".
