I was reading the Sheamus thread and alot of people were complaining about his "Cena booking" being a reason why it's hard to support him. I hear people constantly bitch about the WWE not making new stars, but isn't that what they're doing with Sheamus?
Also how do you expect someone to be built up as a star if they're not being booked to win a vast majority of their matches?

Maybe it's like what Muhammad Hassan said, "losers love losers".

It matters how you win.MMA fans hate Jon Fitch too because he wins alot by being what is to them "boring" while they love a guy like Mark Hunt whose 8-7 in his career because he throws bombs. Same thing with punk.

Yet no one complains that Punk is booked like Cena. Punk puts on great matches. Nobody wants to see a guy win constantly at the flip of the 'Superman' switch.

I have no idea, but it seems to be an extremely common complaint around these parts, even against guys like Rey Mysterio who still consistently put on excellent matches.
It's hardly a new thing, either; this sort of booking's been a staple of WWE for DECADES: The top faces will pretty much never lose clean to anyone other than another top face.

Whenever someone makes this complaint, it usually only means that they dislike the wrestler and that he's getting pushed (and probably over their favorites, too), not that WWE is booking him any differently than anyone else they've ever tried to elevate.
Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it'd be nice of people could just admit that it's their own biases talking and not anything that WWE is doing.

It's no that they win a lot, it's who they win against. Very few complained about Sheamus until he feuded with Daniel Bryan.

Superman syndrome is boring. I hate Super Heroes that never lose. Spider-Man is more relate able than Superman. Spidey can lose, and has. It makes him more interesting knowing he isn't just going to stomp every bad guy.
There's similarities with wrestlers. A seemingly invincible face can get boring, and you run out of things to do with them. There's no real vulnerability or anything to worry with John Cena. Whether he gets destroyed, fired, or insulted it never really seems to matter.
The problem with Sheamus isn't that he wins a lot. He's not boring because he wins a lot. He's boring because his character sucks. He started off going against Henry and could have looked like a badass face. Instead he became the generic good guy with nothing about him really standing out other than the fact he says fella.
Not long ago Cena insulted him calling him a jar of mayonnaise constantly. Now he sees no problem buddying up to John. He didn't even explain why he runs out to save him. He really just has no character.
Predictability usually creates a lack of interest. It was very easy to predict the results of Over the Limit. Including the Sheamus win.

CM Punk despite being champion for a while seems vulnerable. Does he have the invulnerable aura of Cena? No. Not long ago people thought he was leaving for some time. There is less predictability with Punk. Well ... besides the Jericho feud.
Punk also shows more emotion if you will. Things bother him and he voices himself. With Cena it's like "Oh I got fired? Whatever see you at Raw Monday!"

Sorry but I have to call bullshit on both of these. The Punk complaints have died down since the Jericho feud but back when he got the title from Del Rio until the Jericho feud off the rails plenty of people on here bitched about how Punk became the same type of overcoming the odds babyface that they hate. Hell, following TLC and Royal Rumble it was there, not as bad as it got with Cena but still prevalent. With Sheamus, people were bitching about him going Superman back during his mini-feud with Jinder Mahal of all people last year. Hell, people were sick of that act with him long before WM. It was the Mania debacle that proved to be the final straw for most but it was far from the first.

Yet no one complains that Punk is booked like Cena. I can't even imagine Cena tapping to Bryan. I'd like to see Cena tap out to Bryan. Honestly, tapping out would not undermine Cena's character at all Just have him come out and cut a promo like this... "Last night, Daniel Bryan accomplished something that most thought would never be done. He made John Cena, the so-called invincible Superman, tap out. That's right, I actually gave up. I tapped out because I love doing what I do. I tapped out because I would rather continue coming out here and performing EACH AND EVERY NIGHT FOR ALL OF YOU, than get put on the shelf with a broken arm because of selfish pride."

People started to warm up to Cena during the Nexus angle. Why?Why he stopped being superman(or they tough so)and was vulnerable,he was human.
So it's not an IWC hive mind syndrome

Yet no one complains that Punk is booked like Cena. Or Stone Cold Steve Austin for that matter. From 1998-2001, I don't think Austin ever lost clean. Excepting Triple H at No Way Out, but even then, that was far from a dominant, decisive win.
