I thought Orton's was great. Real engaging documentary, and an amazing list of matches, and the Blu-ray extras were even better. Wait what were the Blu-Ray Extras? Cody Rhodes giving some anecdotes on what traveling with Randy was like. Randy showing off his motorcycle collection, which is unintentionally hilarious because the entire time you can see his daughter's bright pink Power Wheels jeep in the background. And three bonus matches that were not on the DVD in the 2009 Royal Rumble, the Three Stages Of Hell match with Triple H from The Bash 2009, and the match with Christian from Over The Limit 2011.

I think the only WWE DVD'S i've brought this year (apart from Tagged Classics) are Jericho's DVD and the rise and fall of WCW. Both were good, even if the WCW one went over old ground a bit.
Will buy Orton's DVD when I can afford it. Looking forward to seeing that.

I was unemployed most of this year so far so I didn't have the money to buy anything until Julyish. In any event, I picked up the Ladder Match BD, HBK/Hart is on pre-order, and Austin's BD upcoming pre-order too. I also got the first volume of the Survivor Series anthology really cheaply at FYE too.
Haven't received the Orton BD yet, but Media Mail here in the US is a little slow. Hopefully get to watch that bad boy soon, looks out of the norm for a WWE documentary.

I can tell you from watching it that the documentary/interview portion of the Bret/Shawn Rivalry DVD is fantastic. There really does seem to be a genuine understanding between the two former sworn enemies. While I doubt they'll be going to each other's houses for dinner anytime soon...at least they're not wishing harm (or worse) upon each other anymore.

I don't think I was expecting that.

The Rise and Fall of WCW was definitely a stinker. Its very glossed over and not nearly as compelling as it should've been. I wouldnt go as far as to call it a hatchet job, its just the basics of the story. I didnt learn anything from it that I didnt already learn from other sources.
I will echo the sentiments on the Bret/Shawn documentary which I got to see this past weekend. Its excellent and the format (JR interviewing them) is perfect. Shawn is still an asshole and its so evident with his responses and body language. He doesnt seem to take responsibility for the past and he downplays a lot. He's gotta be haunted.
As for the department on whole, they seem to be really hit or miss lately and I agree with the guy who said Rise and Fall of WCW was the start of the trend. Granted, I found a few of the ones released prior to that bad (the Billy Graham one is TERRIBLE), but they're not guaranteed to be good. OMG is pretty good, but thats something you'll watch once and never again.

I thought Thw Rise and Fall of WCW was good. Not great but good. The real problem I had was with the Nitro set. Granted disk one and two are great but the third disk can't honestly be called the best of Nitro. The 3 count - Jung Dragons ladder match is pointless, the triple cage is a clusterf*** (Nash just stands around), the normal cage match is also too short and pointless and the Bret Hart - Goldberg match is by far the dumbest thing i've ever seen. The only thing that is really good is of course the Sting-DDP match. To me it just seemed like they put on those matches just to have stuff from the last years but not sure if any of you have heard this but they were not the best. I would have rather seen more cruiserweight matches and well....good matches over those wastes of time. Other than disk three though I was very happy with the purchase.

I think "what's going wrong" is kind of a simple answer. They've already done great DVDs on almost everything. They've covered almost every promotion in their video library and damn near every wrestler that had a career worthy of a DVD. A lot of people (including myself) don't care for DVDs on active wrestlers because the story isn't over so you know their will be another release on them in the future.
The top 100 superstars DVD was lamer than hell IMO. I didn't even finish watching it because for the first 20 or so guys it was just a bunch of current wrestlers giving blanket statements about how these older guys were great. I don't care to see Cena say "Lou Thesz was a man's man". Maybe it got better further into the list but I didn't give it a chance.
I am stoked for Bret vs. Shawn though. That really should be amazing. I also really liked Jericho's DVD. I wasn't a big fan of The Rock's because it was one of those that just briefly talks about a time period and then shows a match. It was like Undertaker's latest DVD in that regard. I absolutely hate those.
