King is a good Heel Color Commentator, but an Awful Face one. The Combination of Coach joining the table in 2006, the the decision to have Cole become the heel last year, made it clear.
Honestly, the best Solution, if King were to stay, were to have JR or Scott Stanford become the new PBP guy on Raw and have Cole be a heel on Smackdown, that way, King could possibly transition into rooting for heels again.

Well I'm glad that everyone is on the same page. And I am glad that everyone on this board loves their jobs 100% and are not in it for the money. People like Lawler, who work only to pay their bills, sicken me..... I, and I think most others, don't dislike listening to him because he's doing it for the paycheck; I dislike it because while he's doing that he's being AWFUL at it. Even if he had all the enthusiasm in the world for it right now, he'd still be sucking.

FIrst things first. Can we not snark at eachother in here? It's not needed. We can have differences of opinion without giong there. Thank you, this ends Mod Speak. Lawler doesn't like being a commentator but loves to be in the ring? Well, Jerry, you're never going to be a regular in-ring guy with WWE, and everyone knows that. If you're not happy doing commentary, then switch to being a road agent, or whatever the hell they call it now. I have no doubt that Lawler can impart wisdom on working a match to the young guys, and think he'd be extremely valuable in that role. One can change positions within an organization rather than do a specific job that they do not like, especially someone with as much seniority and status as Lawler has. Yes, many people hate their jobs, and are stuck doing them anyway to make ends meet. However, this particular someone has 20 years of tenure with his company, is held in high regard, and could therefore get a transfer to a different department that would allow him to be a valuable asset and not force him to do something that he does not like every single week. Not to mention that him hating his job directly impacts on people's enjoyment of the show. If you get a half cooked meal in a restuarant because the chief can't be bothered are you just supposed to shrug your shoulders, go "Oh well I hate my job too." and just tuck in anyway? As well as the fact that people watch things like WWE as an escape from their crappy jobs.

He's still better than Cole and I can't be convinced otherwise. Thought I was the only one who thought that way.

Look I'm not against Jerry Lawler having a job with WWE I'm really not. I just can't STAND him in the booth and if he can't stand being there then why is he there! There are so many other things he could be doing. He could be a manager, face or heel. He could be an authority figure. He could be a road agent. He could probably be part of the booking team. Hell he could even have a little run as a full time wrestler and maybe throw in a quick reign with a midcard or even the world title as a thank you before moving him to one of those other positions. I enjoyed his time feuding with Miz in a way.
Seriously though anything anything but having to continue to listen to him on commentary. Goddamn.

I think Lawler enjoyed it until the last 10 years. He's burnt out by it these days, and it's quite obvious by his poor commentary with Cole and even JR. He was so good as a heel commentator and transitioned well into a tweener during most of The Attitude Era. The product isn't nearly as good these days and the E has changed the way the announcers call matches. It's a different time, and I think King is just there for a paycheck only now.
