I'd kind of prefer a prequel to First Class. Magneto: Nazi Hunter would be the best movie ever. Forget my money, take my whole wallet!

days of future past will just crap on what they've already done in films because they're already used Senator Kelly but they've already shown they don't care what they've done on film before If the story still hinges on a plot to kill a powerful anti-mutant senator, does it really matter if his name isn't Kelly? yes because thats still pretty much the plot of the first film

Hell, they're working with existing history and changing it, have them out to save Nixon or something.

I'd wager they're going with it so that they can alter the timeline. No idea if the Wolverine movies would be in the original continuity or the new one if so, but does anyone even care?

This allow them to use both the older cast from the original X films, plus the displaced newer actors.
Makes sense

I could imagine, if they ever make the Deadpool movie, Deadpool having a conversation with himself where he declares he's in "the timeline with the better movies."

After reading this thread I have a few comments:
1) Even though it was pretty bad X3 has something in common with all of the other X-Men movies; They all were financial successes. Every single one of them made money.
2) I actually really liked X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Sure, I haven't read the comics in about 15 years now so I had no preconceptions to ruin regarding Deadpool, Wraith, or any of the other characters outside of Wolverine, but if the movie was enjoyable who cares?
3) I was not bothered by Angel's heel turn as it was fairly evident that she held normal humans in contempt from the start. I was bothered by the fact that Zoe Kravitz was so dull that I stopped caring about her almost instantly.
4) I would welcome any villain played by Alan Rickman or Jason Isaacs. They both are awesome.
5) Yes, January Jones is attractive. Yes, if the First Class movie is anything to go from she also cannot act her way out of a wet paper bag.
6) I wasn't thrown by Mystique joining Magneto. It wasn't as if she chose to betray Charles. In fact, she at first opted to stay with Charles until Charles himself told her to do what she wanted and go with Magneto.
7) I am assuming that her interactions with humans in the next few films will harden Mystique to become the character that we are all familiar with. The only difference is that the timeline of the films will be a bit off from the timeline of the comics. Remember, the knowledge of the existence of mutants is growing during these films and it has already been demonstrated that every expansion of that knowledge leads to some rather brutal anti-mutant activity. That would harden anyone, I would think.
8) I thought that The Wolverine film will be self-contained and have next to nothing to do with the rest of the franchise films.

If they bring back January Jones, get Emma Frost in the corset this time. If I have to tolerate Jones "acting" at least get me some slightly better fanservice with it.

So much potential here. As long as FOX doesn't screw around with them, I think Singer/Vaughn/Fassbender and crew will get it done.

McAvoy and Fassbender returning, and Singer returning to the director's chair. Oh yeah this has the makings to be the best Marvel movie.

Knew they'd get the old cast back.
I'd expect to see Cyclops, Jean, older Mystique, maybe Colossus and Kitty.
And another cameo by Wolverine of course.
