I'm fine with you going with whatever. I'll try to better with responding to the threads. I feel like I believe in this group and can do a better job contributing to it.

Yeah, I didn't post anything because no one responded to my suggestions. So... What are the remaining members' thoughts on my ideas? I could always go with a Lynch film; I've seen Hausu without subtitles. Haven't seen the other one. Not to be mean but, at some point, you should just choose what film to do instead of asking everyone for a preference, especially if you don't get a response.

Looks like which ever BoilerRoomBrawler selects is what we'll go with.

Okay, Eraserhead it will be. No "strange movie" theme would be complete without Lynch. Give me a day or so and I'll whip up a thread.

Bleh. I've been so wrapped up in FAWA affairs this week (just completed and posted a supercard show) that I've been unable to get it kickstarted.
In fact, allow me to provide some of my own insight when it comes to running any kind of club from my experience running the Freakin' Awesome Wrestling Alliance [cheapplug]over in the Forum Games section[/cheapplug].
First, when I post a show every week, I send a PM with a link to the latest show to every member. Perhaps we could create a PM list in the first post. That way whoever's turn it is may quote the first post, copy the list, and send the link to their thread to alert members. I think we'd retain more members if such a reminder were provided for them. Day to day life and the fact we had so many members in the beginning probably led to people forgetting they were members because of the long wait until their next turn. That and not every movie is equally available, so people might skip on some weeks' discussions.
Second, participation is key. Of course it's virtually required that one has seen the movie, but maybe, just maybe, if someone hasn't seen the movie, they could ask questions about it. Have those who've seen it recommend it (or not) to members who are interested but unable. In this way, everyone can still participate.
Third, maybe there's something we could do to spice up our format. For instance, what if we tried "double feature" threads? That is, two different members pick two different movies as a way to double the chances of people being able to discuss the movie in question.
Another idea: classic theatrical cartoons. Not movies, no, but still something to watch that evokes cinema. This way, it's something that can be quickly viewed and then discussed. It can keep the trains on time from week to week if we're hurting for a thread.
Thoughts?

It sounds like a good idea. Bob, do you think we should hold back on the theme idea until we get more consistency in the weeks?
I think if we start again with a clean slate and say, "Hey, if you want to choose the strangest movie that you've ever seen, that's great. If not, choose whatever else you'd like," we'll get more picks.

Sorry that I haven't been actively lately on here. I hope we can get this started up again. I don't want to come off as dismissive, but we're starting up FAN Idol VIII in Games and I would love to get some more players for it. Right now, we have Six Contestants and would like to have a total of 16 to start. If you'd like to join up or follow the game, the link can be found here: officialfan.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=forumgames&action=display&thread=466349Right now, the gender of the contestants is quite skewed, so we're looking for female FAN members to join in. It's awesome to have a good assortment of voices, of musical tastes, in a competition like this an a female presence would make the game that much better. Thanks!
