So how soon would ya'll be willing to start this?
Not that I'm trying to delay my turn, but I feel the first movie should be a more group consensus, just to get as many people involved from the get go. Or I'll go first week. I might be slightly more 'niche' though

I'd like it. My own problem would be availability, as I don't have netflixs. I'm pretty good at finding things but newer movies can be a bit difficult. Yeah, that's gonna be the inherit problem with this project; without netflix and /or hulu+, a more dedicated film club membr may have to spend a deal of money on rentals. Hopefully we'll get enough participants so that budget conscious club members can pick and choose what films to spend money to watch while still having good conversation. Note:I don't want film piracy mentioned at all in this thread. As an indie film director, I have my own views, as do we all. If you pirate, that's you're own deal. Don't talk about it here. I'd rather you not do it at all, but I'm not here to lecture you. A lot of physical media is priced below $10, and even more digital is cheaper

Not to beat a dead horse, but... How many of us have not seen The Avengers? It could be a start.

don't think anyone's compiled one yet. As for me personally, I have subscriptions to Netflix(BR +Instant) and Hulu+, and my Blu-Ray collection is linked in my sig. Just for the record, unless this was agreed to be the first week's movie, my first suggestion(so the 2nd week, if my idea was carried out) is Pulp Fiction. While it's no longer on Netflix instant, it is a widely available film.

I'd also rather keep it more to films that have at least enjoyed a home release, if at all possible.Me personally, holding a film studies degree, I'd prefer to keep it to more classic films rather than "pop culture" ones. Again, I'm trying to not be autocratic, and I love the idea of different posters presenting their own films. I came across a really great article the other day discussing the difference between Cineophages and Cineophiles, and I think we'd rather all be Cineophages in this case.

Ok, here's a list of all the posters who've expressed at least passing interest so far, again with my pick for what will be the film during the 2nd week, if not the first. I'll keep updating the list alphabetically until the first week starts. From then on, new members will be added to the end of the current rotation, and then inserted alphabetically into the next go-around:
-Andrew P. Duke(me): Pulp Fiction -543Y2J -Arrow -Blackholemark -bob -Bob Schlapowitz -BoilerRoomBrawler -Darth Alexader -hawkeye Jefferson Winger -irontyger -itsvadertime565 -J -King Ghidorah -Koda89 -Lared -MCOD -MGH -ohiofan -Super Kennedict!
The idea that I like most right now is that of BoilerRoomBrawler's, in that each week, a different poster presents a film that means something to them. However, in order to do that, the presenter of the week's film would be responsible for not only knowing the film well, but also must guide the week's discussion.
If you feel that you don't want to be a presenter, or at least want your week postponed if your week is early, just let me know.

IDK if I had to PM you but yea...being a presenter aint for me , for a few reasons but mainly that I have zero faith to lead a proper discussion..not to say I couldn't but when I have tried they quickly go to hell.
But I will gladly watch the weeks film and participate in the discussion though.

One big thing that I would recommend, but not in any way require, is that the person who presents a film for that week present as much supplemental material as possible. Maybe a really good essay is online, or a really decent documentary on Youtube. If so, post them! Get as much discussion going as possible. The sub-site "Current"(a subsite of Criterion.com) has a lot of good film essays on it.

Just a thought, but what if every movie is its own thread? So, for instance, if Pulp Fiction was just another in the line of movie topics, it would a thread entitled "FAN Movie Club: Pulp Fiction." In the thread, it could list the next person and their pick (once determined).
In any case I'm totally up for Pulp Fiction. Love that movie.
