Well I know for sure I'm getting a deluxe Wii U for Xmas. I asked for it simply because I couldn't think of anything else. I'm not getting any games with it besides Nintendo Land of course. So I went ahead and ordered a couple games. And god damn! Are the pickings pretty slim on the available Wii U games at the moment or what? Games I already own or have played. Madden 13 Mass Effect 3 Batman Arkham City FIFA 13 Assassin's Creed 3 Games I have no interest in. Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 - I'm not a FPS fan ZombiU - I'm tired of zombie games So I ended up getting New Super Mario Bros. U, I figure thats a pretty safe bet. And also Darksiders 2, since I haven't played it yet, and it has DLC included. I've always thought you should at least have 3 games when you get a new console. Then again I've rarely gotten any consoles so close to launch. It launched a few weeks ago, it's normal for the game choice not being that big, as it happened with every console. By E3 you won't even notice them games being launched every week.

I got the 8gb model last week and it's great so far. I actually prefer it to the black dust/scratch/finger print magnet known as the black one. Since they're releasing an external hard drive anyways I couldn't care less about paying more and getting more gb's and Nintendo Land.
I've only got Mario & Sonic Racing and both are amazing looking in HD...Mario especially. My only gripes are: The tablet's battery life isn't that great and to me Wii games don't look that great on it. They look fuzzy and a little grainy when compared to playing them on the original Wii.
I'd say if you're looking to get one...it's a great choice. Now that Nintendo has made these more available you can go into just about any store and get an 8 or 32 gb model without paying outrageous prices on E-bay.
Speaking about the folks on E-bay...I wonder how those poor suckers who couldn't wait and paid ungodly prices feel now? I seen one going for $1,200 on there just a few weeks ago and most others were about $500 or so. Now all you have to do is go to a store and pick one up.

Just checking something:
Does the Virtual Shop channel on the WiiU allow you to by Wii era released Virtual Console and WiiWare games, but playable from the WiiU menu?

Nintendo made it a point to keep the shipments flowing so stock remained in store. Consoles are usually not a good purchase at launch unless you are alright with not having games for a good 3-6 months at a time. At least this is BC with the Wii so you can play some of the better games for cheap.

I'm sure this isn't a big deal, but I'm asking for curiosity sake. Nintendo "recommends" using external memory with its own power source for the Wii U. Now I bought me a couple of 32 GB USB flash drives for when I get my Wii U. Despite what Nintendo says... Should I be fine using these flash drives?

So I hooked up my Wii U and prepared myself for a long wait with the software update. This is, it only took about 45 minutes. While that is a good chunk of time, the way people were talking, I expected it to take several hours, especially doing it on Christmas morning. So that was pretty nice I guess.

Doing the data transfer was annoying, switching the SD card back and forth.

However one thing people are complaining about that isn't an overreaction is the long loading times on the system. From the videos I've seen damn near everything has a long loading time. Not a deal breaker, but certainly an annoyance.

But except for the start up Nintendo Land didn't seem too bad.

Spent a lot of time playing with the WiiU this weekend with the family, great times. Only loading issues were when you switched modes, not ingame. Example: Going into the Wii Mode took a little time, as did going from the Shop to YouTube. Ingame stuff is quick and clean. Trine2 is a crapton of fun by the way. Great game to play with friends.

Yeah, in game loading times seem to be fine. I heard on a playthrough of Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition that the loading times are actually quicker on the Wii U than on PS3 or Xbox360.

I've had no problems swapping out of games... the only minor loading time would be the first start up where it takes you to a splash screen... and even they haven't been terrible. (at least in my experience with Scribblenauts and Mario U.)
Edit: Also I suppose I should edit my sig for my Wii U stuff.

So the latest Nintendo Direct ended. Here's a basic rundown: - Nintendo is happy about miiverse, and how people are very artistic. - 2 software updates in Spring and Summer. They will be to improve loading times and adding new features. - WiiU VC announced. NES, SNES and GBA games will be part of it. Games will have back-up saves a la 3DS, be playable on the WiiU controller, and you'll be able to post about them in Miiverse. If you own certain games from the previous VC, you can upgrade them for these features for $1 (NES) or $1.50 (SNES). Though it won't come until Spring, you can get the first VC title, Balloon Fight, for only 30 cents. - Miiverse is coming to Smartphones - Trailer for The Wonderful 101 is shown and development of Bayonetta 2 is shown as well. - New 3D Mario and new Mario Kart for WiiU announced. More at E3. - First screens of Smash Bros 4 will be revealed at E3. - New Yoshi game announced from the creators of Kirby's Epic Yarn. This has Yoshi made up of yarn too. - There's going to be a crossover between Fire Emblem and Shin Megami Tensei. Seriously. - New Zelda for Wii U is in development. Game is looking to rethink the conventions of Zelda, such as the linear dungeon clearing. - Wind Waker HD announced. - And finally, Monolith Soft, the company behind Xenoblade, showed a trailer for what looks like its spiritual sequel. trailer ends with a giant red X.
