How dare anyone even insinuate that MR EXCITEMENT is not a top babyface

You know who does think John Lauinaitis is really the face?
John Laurinaitis.
I have a feeling that Punk will have his fun at Johnny Ace's expense, then Ace will be removed for someone far more eevil and domineering, and Punk will be in trouble then.

It boggles my mind how anyone can think that Punk's condescendingly pandering character is EVER the good guy. Johnny Ace's character is a refreshing breeze of genuineness, compared to him.

Just like the dumbass "Oh come on, guys, McMahon was really the face, not Austin, he was just trying to be a good boss for his company" argument I see people put forth rarely but still too often, the answer here is...no.

See, I'd probably be of the Vince is in the right opinion, and I was as a kid, but arranging for the psychological torture of your daughter to get at your enemy is a bit much. Still trying to figure out how helping Austin to retain the title was supposed to further his goal of screwing Austin out of the title.

I'll be honest, I was rooting for Punk to eat an Ace Crusher last raw. I think a good amount of people was too.

Probably to lure Austin into a false sense of security so that when Vince wanted too, he could exact his revenge in the most painful and meaningful way possible. Of course, it all backfired when the McMahon women gave their souls to Austin but I digress.... Laurinaitis isn't a face. His actions suggest more tweener but he openly supports the heels while bashing the faces.

To be serious, I think Ace is just...an idiot. There's just something so genuine about him being an idiot that I can't help but like the guy. Like he's evil, sure, but he's an evil idiot. And that's so darn likable.
I love the chemistry with him and Punk because it's jackass good guy and nice idiotic evil guy. Which is hilarious. But Ace is still kinda evil.

I don't think he's being made out to be an idiot though. No one's taking advantage of his position as it's him pulling all the strings. Heck, it was him that got HHH and Vince kicked out of their jobs. If anything he's cold and calculating, biding his time before he strikes his opponents down.

Heck, it was him that got HHH and Vince kicked out of their jobs. If anything he's cold and calculating, biding his time before he strikes his opponents down. Thing is, was it really him? You can technically interpret him to be just an idiot assuming there's somebody else who is the mastermind. It's not that much of a stretch. Well, I wouldn't put it past WWE to do that. I mean, it has never been confirmed onscreen that he is an evil mastermind. He acts like an idiot and this gives him results he likes. But...at the same time, there is still a possibility he is just an idiot. I mean say he just came out last night because he genuinely wanted to help Punk. Then he becomes a hilariously idiotic guy. Evil, sure, because he does some questionable stuff, but mostly idiotic. Like "I'd screw Punk over at times but now it's time to help him. Huh. Looks like I screwed him over anyway. What do you know? MR. EXCITEMENT ALWAYS TRIUMPHS!" I know it's a bit of a stretch, but whenever I see him I just look at him and think "Is he evil... or just an idiot?" which could be just me suspending my disbelief way, way too much, but I think it makes it more fun to watch.

He's not, but who's to say that one day he won't be? He sure is nicer than Vince.
But he's supposed to represent the modern middle management executive who smiles at you while he's slitting your throat.

The reason he doesn't feel like a heel is because he's simply not a good enough actor to pull off being one. He just comes out and hopes to rely on getting heel heat simply by being Johnny Ace.
That's reason enough to boo him in my book.

The character of John Laurinaitis, the person who's supposed to be in charge of running the show and dictating matches and opponents, is a fool who hides behind a blatantly false "good guy" image.
Punk's the only one bothering to call out John for exactly what he is: an empty suit, a company shill who is not at all as unbiased as he'd have you believe. The man who is in direct control of his career is a phony, and Punk's the only one calling him on it.
I don't see how that makes Punk the bad guy and John the good guy. Like, at all.

I don't think he's the face. Doesn't matter to me though, because he's one of the best authority figures WWE has had in a while. After that video he showed at the Slammys, I was sold.

Agree although I think it makes much more sense to those that have had to deal with a middle manangement suit who is an all round jack ass who is always smiling and telling you he's looking out for your best interests.

The problem is we had no context to Punk's initial rants against Laurinaitis. Punk randomly buried him during his shoot promo and called him a douchebag yes man to Vince. There was no real reason for this. Laurinaitis had done nothing on screen to deserve this.

Agree with the numerous posters who have touched on this point -- if you've ever had to work under someone like Mister John Laurinitis, Senior Vice President of Talent Relations and interim General Manager of Monday Night Raw, you immediately recognize enough in his personality to boo the daylights out of him. He thinks he's the good guy - he's not. He thinks he's unpredictable - he's not. He thinks he's the top of the heap - he's not.

Personally I think he's been the best on-screen authority figure since Bischoff.
