I believe Ultimo Dragon did a spring board moonsault (the asai moonsault) first but he did it outside the ring. Was Jericho the first to do it inside?

I think it's a luchadore move originally but I'm not sure.

Didn't someone nearly kill themselves with a botched version of it? My instincts say it was Sabu, but I'm probably wrong.

Hayabusa is paralyzed due to a botched one. And I may be wrong, but I want to say he did it first.

Jericho did say in his book that he experimented with the Lionsault by practicing on some dirty laundry, so he may very well have been the first. At the very least, he didn't take it from someone else.

didn't Christopher daniels also botch one whilst in WCW? x Yes he did. His first Nitro match and he botched something fierce. Not that it really mattered in the end, but still.

Poor Hayabusa. Before that, I saw him botch shooting star presses and other high flying moves. From what I understand, he messed up the lionsault in his match with Mammoth Sasaki because the ropes were too tight. After his accident, he's done a bit of singing, ran a promotion for a bit, made a couple of appearances in FMW reunion shows.

Last public appearance he made for Misawa's funeral. He's slowly regaining movement in his legs but it's going to be a really long time before he can walk without a walker( if ever). Hayabusa used the somersault senton into the springboard moonsault as part of his regular moves in the ring.

Jericho claims to have invented it, but I don't believe him.
