...it's now time for him to start getting really evil.
He plays a great out-of-touch brown noser, but he ought to do more things to get under the crowd's skin. He needs to eventually admit that he doesn't like the idea of Punk representing the company as champion, and start giving him more difficut stips and eventually more beatdowns from wrestlers he favors. And I'd reveal him as the one behind the conspiracy to give that whole thing some closure.
Hell, maybe he could switch out Cult of Personality to something more generic and "focus group approved" during Punk's entrances, just to give the crowd the sense that The Man's trying to hold him down.

The focus group approved song has to be by Downstait. Actually, I'd have Jim Johnston just compose something within that mold, so Downstait fans won't feel like WWE's trolling them. |

I think he's to "evil" already. I mean maybe I'm reading to much subtext into it, but it's pretty clear he's playing the part of corrupt boss playing the corporate lackey. After all as near as we can figure from the way WWE's front office has been restructured lately he doesn't actually report to a boss right now. Just the Board of Directors

See, I would be a little more blatant about it though and give him something really stupid. I'm thinking like how Booker T ended up with the Leave it to Beaver theme in WCW when he lost the rights to the letter T. Yeah, it was a dumb storyline, but Clearance Mason giving Booker that theme was actually a brilliant troll move. |

Johnny is fine as the bumbling corporate suit, let's not have another evil GM. Ditto. The winning thing about him is that he's not over-the-top evil, or even subtly evil. He's just this boring, by the book empty suit who's main objective is, above all else, to maintain order (what many others would call status quo). |

ok so the OP wants him to play the part of the generic heel authority figure just like everybody else before him, great.
I quite like having a different kind of heel authority figure myself, but if you want to make him like all the others from past eras that got stale even during their own time then fine.

Not to where he's discredited, obviously, but he needs to start getting screwed over enough to where his fanbase is willing to rally around him, and thus really tune in and buy even more tickets. That's another reason I feel that WWE should have waited until WM28 to put the title back on him. Right now, Laurinaitis is basically letting Punk ridcule and walk all over him without equal retaliation on his part. The crowd needs to be given some proof that Punk is right about all of the crap he says about Ace, otherwise Punk becomes a bully. |

I'm the only one who sees a power grab by a guy who's so transparent that he basically screams his motivation? Sure he tries to be subtle but he's an open book. I'd rather not have Laryngitis play the part that rightfully should've been played by Triple H when all this mess first started.
We'd have at least gotten a good Triple H/Punk blow-off match with some build and it'd be a bit more satisfying seeing someone kick in Triple H's face for being a smug, corporate suit pretending to be impartial.

I'm not a big fan of rebels, his promos frequently grate on me, to much smug. I root for him because I root for faces and because of who he's facing. |

I like the idea of authority figures changing faces music.
Have CM Punk appear on the ramp and just as he's about to pander to the crowd, "Friday" plays.
Then as he's going into WTF mode, go ahead and have Zack Ryder come out for a bit and dance to it before being discouraged from continuing by Punk.
