Seriously, on twitter Cena said he's been trying to get it changed for at least 3 years. We know HHH has wanted that thing changed for quite a while too. Obviously Punk has said the same, and I'm pretty sure just about everyone feels the same.
So I figure the Spinner title must be the best backstage politician ever. He must have more power than Cena and HHH do to be able to stick around.
Does Taker even stand a chance against the Spinner. Is THAT why he was always winning titles on Smackdown instead of RAW. And suspiciously was out of the title picture the few months the WWE title was on Smackdown in 08-09?

The Spinner was in a relationship with the Women's and Diva's Title at the same time. The WWE got rid of the Women's Title because it was getting too clingy with the Spinner.
The Spinner Title doesn't do clingy.

One day, Vince had a headache, so he asked Mick Foley to alleviate the pressure. So Mrs Foley's baby boy took a chair to the back of his head. From the wound sprang the WWE Spinner, and since then, it has been the pride of the McMahons ever since.

I'm still shocked at the way that belt used it's evil twin to become the focus of the storyline between Punk and Cena/WWE, once the sibling had outlived it's usefulness it was disposed of without fanfare as if it was Marty Jannetty.
If that title is capable of doing such things to it's own family nobody else is going to mess with the damn thing.

At least there's never confusion over which company the belt belongs too. It's plastered all over the front of the damn thing.

If you look at it really closely during matches, the spinning part operates like a Doomsday Clock. As Cena gets closer and closer to losing, the spinner moves closer and closer to a full revolution. If it ever did revolve, it'd be Armageddon. So it's not that the WWE wants Cena to win all the time, it's that Cena HAS to win. He's doing us a favor, folks.

I was a great pay-per-view. The six man Hell in a Cell match with Angle, Rikishi, HHH, Austin, Rock and Taker was an awesome match!

Well, I guess when you spend god knows how much creating that monstrosity, you're gonna get your money's worth out of it.

Serious answer? I think it's a marketing falacy. "It sells lots of replicas" is the logic, but, um, if they made a new more title-belt like design would it not sell a crap-ton of replicas too?
Other answer? The belt, I'm pretty sure, is inhabited by the soul of Vince himself. He won't get rid of it becaue, if the belt isn't on TV then he will implode.

One day we will get a new belt design. One day. None of them last forever.
Oh God please, let me be right....
...ahem, anyway. I remember hearing about HHH wanting the belt changed, and also remember something about how the silver ECW belt was originally going to be Trips' custom title belt. It had those iron cross things on the strap, so could well be some truth to that particular rumour.

It needs to go soon. thats the total upside to a new WWE logo. If they change the logo, the belt instantly becomes outdated.

I would LOVE a new WWE championship considering how much I dislike this one. To this day, when Edge beat Cena at New Year's Revolution 2006, I'm not sure if I was more excited for an Edge reign or a new WWE title.
..but they kept it. They've held onto the damn thing nearly 6 years later!

I feel sorry for the WHC, it's a veteran in the business and never gets any respect. At least it helps put some young guys over.

Sadly, they'd just replace the blingy, spinny part with the new logo and be done with it. My aversion to it is part design, but part origin. Yes, we all know the kayfabe deal of it being the ultimate prize and whatnot, but even a tiny bit of knowing the history of it says "change it". The spinner design, whether or not it still spins, was done, as the US title was, as a simultanious "screw you" to "traditional looking belts" by an anti-hero character and, more importantly, a "personalization" by a current champion. Not the first time the latter had been done (Brahma Bull title, smoking skull, Million Dollar Belt just to name a few) but the longevity of it is the shocker. Frankly, if any of the belts I mentioned had been kept around and, when the title changed hands, the design stayed the same I think the backlash against it would have been just as strong. Think about it, when Austin lost the "smoking skull" belt (or rather lost the title in general) would people not feel the same aversion since "they're just carrying around Austin's personalized title belt"?

Totally agree. No matter how much people want to protest this point, its Cena's custom belt, and its a relic of a bygone era in Cena's character progression. Screw the logo, the belt IS outdated now. And has been since Cena was injured in 2007 at the very latest.

Is there anyone at all that like the belt? It looks like a bad bling bling belt you can buy at stores with fake merchandise in Thailand.

I like the belt. My only problem is that they should remove the centerpiece and just make it a WWE logo, and toss out the Champ thing.
And even then, I could live with it were the WWE logo not somewhat lopsided.
