Surely they're all too over to be signed to a Backyard. Like the AI only lets itself (and you) sign wrestlers under 20 overness. They're all under 20 overness, with AJ having a whopping 1 overness. Wow, that's odd. What kind of mod are you using?

Yeah, the game usually has guys who weren't actually active until a year or two later. I think Bobby Roode is in as early as 1995, for example.

I'm using a 96 mod to book ECW and there's several guys like that. I was able to sign AJ Styles and book him to like 80 percent overness for a feud with Chris Daniels over the ECW Junior Heavyweight Title.

I'm about to start a real world game based in New Zealand. Backyard to Global challenge starting out with the very few New Zealand wrestlers in the database and a few nobodies from England that I now have based in New Zealand via the editor. User character is a guy I created called "Beautiful" Bradley Williams who is a 25 year old failed wrestler who turned to acting and modelling and failed at that. He now has an addiction to every drug available including alcohol and has had trouble with the law in the past. He will be the top heel.
I'm trying to be as realistic as possible so I won't be signing the best American free agents to bump my ratings because it would cost too much money and isn't overly realistic. I'm thinking of using a name or two a couple times a year but that will be it.

EWR can't do workers that debut after a couple of years. Oh I know that. I was just pointing out how nearly every mod has guys who shouldn't actually be wrestling yet. But I guess that makes sense, since they were probably training for a few years prior. Now if Kelly Kelly were to show up in a 2005 mod, I'd have issues with it...

Just ran my first show in front of 8 people in what I think was a church function room or a church parking lot. Main event featured Reuben De Jong who is a Mixed Martial Arts guy turned wrestler defeating my user character for the NWA New Zealand Title in a F+ rated match. Made the right choice for champion because due to Reuben's popularity he can get a D segment quite regularly which is huge for a backyard company.

Playing the Montreal Aftermath mod for TEW 2013 as ECW
This is my December to Dismember card
Dudleyz vs Doug Furnas & Phil Lafon
The Extreme Alliance (Pitbull II & Justin Credible) vs The Gangstanators vs the FBI vs Hardy Boyz for ECW Tag Titles
The Extreme Alliance is composed of RVD, Justin Credible, Pitbull II and Bill Alfonso. They formed a few weeks ago by beating the crap out of Dreamer & Sandman.
Bigelow wins a battle royal.
Taz vs Sabu
Tommy Dreamer vs Meng in a Texas Death Match
Meng is my user character and he's mostly there to be a reliable main event heel
RVD vs Shane Douglas vs The Sandman

Just to update you all.
I'm now about 15 months into my backyard to global challenge. I'm still "local" but instead of drawing 8 people we're now drawing 73 people and instead of running a church function room we moved up to a rec hall which is cool I guess.
A lot of my main talent has been signed by IPW New Zealand who I am at war with after they rejected my working agreement. They stole a number of rookies and a couple of main event stars from me leaving me with 4 main event guys. One is my user character who had a horrible reign as Heavyweight Champion, one is a guy who struggles to wrestle over 8 minute matches despite only being 27, a cruiserweight who gives good matches but has nothing in the way of charisma and my giant MMA guy Reuben De Jong who basically keeps the title because nobody else can match the stats he gives me. He holds both the NWA Australian Heavyweight Title and NWA New Zealand Heavyweight Titles so he's a hot commodity for both.
Currently building up a rookie who came from the promotions wrestling dojo. He is friendly with my user character and therefore is loyal to the company so he's smart to build up. In his first 6 months in the business he has teamed with Bob Orton Jr and defeated Sonjay Dutt in a singles match so he's basically receiving the "Cena" push on an independent level.
Held my first big show and managed to get Shinya Ishikawa and Sonjay Dutt on the card. Ishikawa had a one day title reign before dropping the belt to Reuben De Jong which added no prestige or anything to the title which I felt was a little unfair. Ishikawa is a big star in Japan and him holding a local title belt should have pumped it up a little.

Which game are you using? EWR. TEW doesn't have backyard level.

I'm actually using TEW 2013. "Local" I think is meant to be a backyard level promotion. We're small now though.

I think it's pretty fun to be honest. I've done it before where I went from 7-8 fans to 2000-2500 fans and it's fun going back and looking at those first events and seeing how far the company has grown. Going from using guys like Sonjay Dutt and Zach Gowen on your big shows to using guys like Chris Jericho and Rey Mysterio is cool to me.
What sucks is when you do a E+ or D- match in front of 8 people and you just know it would have been a C+ or C- if you had a couple hundred people in the building but such is life.

i'm doing an original ewr data game with wwe i plan on having Edge being in the "eddie guerrero" spot and unexpectedly win the title from lesnar but i have to build edge up though and brock wants a match with edge.... perfect
i also got rid of all tag teams since i barely use them anyway so everyone is a singles competitor in my game

I got the 1-2-3 Kid and Marty Jannetty teaming up on Raw. In 2015.
Orginally, they were gonna have a one-off appearance to get beat by the Ascension but I liked the idea of them in modern WWE so much that I'm keeping them around. Really tempted to give them a tag title run in the next few months.

Aw jeez. I saw Marty Jannetty back in 2010 on an indy wrestling DVD and the dude could barely move. Wrestled in a T-Shirt and Jeans I believe against Orlando Jordan and some local guys. 2015 WWE Marty Jannetty would be so bad that it'd be good.

He's being replaced by new main roster call up Adrian Neville.

Anyone know why the AI insists on stealing my rookies but never my top level guys. I got my boy Reuben De Jong who has been on top of my company since day 1 and is one of the most popular NZ wrestlers but they've never even tried to sign him.
Good news for me because I need him to keep growing but it hurts me more to take him away then my rookies.
