I recently watched IP Man 2 with Donnie Yen, which was very entertaining especially the outlandish brit boxer villain at the end, so I now have the bug to watch more Martial arts films. Any recommendations? Also what film do you think best represents the different Martial Arts actors over the years? Mainly because I have no idea which of Chuck Norris films are any good. Oh and in the Jackie Chan film "Who AM I" fight with the Taekwondo chap at the end was awesome.

The Raid is supposed to be incredible but I haven't seen it yet (I'm dying to though).
I love Return Of The Dragon. It's my favorite Bruce Lee film.
Jackie Chan's work was pretty cool (his early 80s stuff): Police Story 2, Drunken Master, etc.
For good cheese the 80s Ninja films are a blast.
Kung Fu Hustle was pretty damn great as well. The Jet Li films aren't too shabby either.
Personally I'm not a fan of 'wire-fu' but sometimes in moderation they're ok.

If you want an odd one, check out The Storm Riders www.imdb.com/title/tt0165499/I saw it on a bootleg VHS copy a friend had, and none of us knew the real name of it so it was always "that one with the firemonkey" Sony Chiba is the big bad

That is in my dvd collection unwatched ... -- Kung Fu-Hustle is great, love that film. As is the Tony Jaa combo of Ong-Bak and Warrior King Judging by the reaction I need to dig out the first Ip Man. ---- So where do we stand on non-Asian martial arts films? Can Seagal or Norris really cut it or do I need to go find Bloodsport with Van Damme. Is there anyone younger than those three worth watching?

Underrated movie - Jet Li's Unleashed. Jet Li's The One is also quite fun, though silly. See also: throwing motorcycles.

IDK if one classifies them as "martial arts" movies specifically but they are fight flicks with legit martial artists.
Unidisputed 2 and 3. Blood and Bone

That is in my dvd collection unwatched ... I was kidding about Ninja Assassin. It's possibly one of the most violent films I've ever seen.

I really wish Netflix had a category, or at least a collection, of the classic kung-fu flicks. Five Deadly Venoms, Master of the Flying Guillotine, Executioners From Shaolin, Crippled Avengers, etc.

In April I always watch my whole collection of Jackie Chan movies, right now I'm on Miracles.
Project A is fantastic.
Armor of God is like the perfect action movie (and is the movie Jackie Chan almost died on).
Police Story is very influential.
Drunken Master 2 is my favorite martial arts movie.
New Police Story rules!
Donnie Yen also starred in SPL (KillZone) and Flashpoint.
If you want to see some up and comers, check out the Stunt People forum.
I might make another post with more recommendations. =)

Only the Strong, Crying Freeman and Drive are three underrated flicks. All three star Mark Dacascos who, for my money, is the best martial arts actor from outside Asia.
It's a shame he'll say yes to literally any script shown to him...

Yen's Kill Zone is one of my favorite movies, so well done. THen he makes Flashpoint, I never got through it.
Crippled Masters One Armed Swordsman Any of Jet Li's Wushu films.

Why was Flash Point not so good? I was thinking of getting that paticular Donnie Yen film.

I love all the Police Story one's with Jackie Chan. Excellent fight scenes and he did all the stunt work himself.

Yen's Kill Zone is one of my favorite movies, so well done. THen he makes Flashpoint, I never got through it. Crippled Masters One Armed Swordsman Any of Jet Li's Wushu films. Flashpoint isn't so bad if you think of it as less of a martial arts movie and more of a crime drama with some action in it. What's disappointing to me is that considering the fact that it's got Xing Yu (scion of a very long line of actual Shaolin Monks), Collin Chou, and Donnie Yen, there's a surprising lack of fighting. What's worse, is that it uses real life fighting, which translates HORRIBLY to film.
