Key words: "based on what we know NOW". I'm sure, if we didn't know, he wasn't exactly privy to that information either. It's unfair to retroactively punish a guy for making comments he probably didn't know where hitting too close to home. He still made racists comments and was talking about having someone put Rosa in her place on Monday after WWE knew what was going on. He knew better but kept pushing. Even if you want to give him the benefit of the doubt on the Rosa stuff from Mon., he still made racists and sexist jokes before the Kobe stuff and after. Yeah, and he was getting heat for it. Which was his job as a manager. The Rosa stuff may have been over the line if he knew about it in detail, which I'll assume he did for the sake of the argument, but punishing a manager for pissing people off seems....really stupid to me, considering that that's the job description. Suspend him for the specific comment if you like, but firing him is a bit over the top. Was he just supposed to go out there and be like "Epico and Primo.....you big dummies!" and expect to get a reaction? Of course not, dude's gotta cut deep.

The Rock and Stone Cold didn't use material that was 8 years out-of-date.
I say this as someone whose loved AW since the Abraham Washington Show days and was looking forward to him with each broadcast.
A rape joke on a PG show is lame as it is, but the fact that it was not only outdated, but didn't fit his character at all and didn't have to be said is what makes the whole thing horrible. Could someone hip me to the Rosa controversy? I think I missed that.

Can someone tell me the PPV where AW said these things about Rosa and the Colons and what the comments were? I'd like to check my DVD to see if they were removed or not.

Great managers of the past like Bobby Heenan and Jimmy Hart were available to work in the PG confines. Jimmy Hart I'll give you, but Bobby Heenan tossed around slurs like nobodies business(remember Arriba Santana and his Flying Jalepeno?). AND encouraged violence to women. At a point where the WWF was WAY more kid friendly and cartoony than it is now.

You cannot use racism to get heat in this day and age. If the best a person can do is pick on someone's race they aren't good and don't deserve a job. That's Ian Rotten level bullshit.

This sucks. People are acting like he cut a 30-minute promo about rape. It was one throwaway line during a match.

Then a lot of comics would be out of work. Racial humor can be really, really hilarious. What AW said about the Colons was funny and wasn't even that bad.

Could someone hip me to the Rosa controversy? I think I missed that. It was recently discovered she was in an abusive relationship with Andrew Jackson (former Tyson Kidd bodyguard, about 7'foot tall and jacked) and had to call the police due to an incident with him. So, it's probably not that cool for AW to indicate he had someone "take care" of her or was going to have someone do so.

I get that it's something that shouldn't have been done, and I don't blame WWE for taking action, but the whole thing is just sad.
