"But we paid 60 dollars for it"
Well, maybe if you didn't bring in a 5 year old game, we'd give you more!
HATE those commercials! I'm not even gonna use Gamefly now, they annoy me so much.

reminds me of a story from the mom-and-pop video game store I worked for many moons ago....
some guy tries to trade in a Lethal Enforcers Sega CD (which at the time was packaged with the system).... no case, no gun, just the disk which looks like it was fed to someone's cat. We offered him $1 just to get him out of the store, and he stormed out and smashed the CD in effigy just outside the front doors.

You think that's why Kurt Angle and AJ Styles were trashing that game store?

I freaking hate Gamefly commercials. They make gamers look like whiny children with anger issues. Thanks for reinforcing the stereotype.

I used to work at Gamestop. I did feel bad for people who would come with boxes full of stuff only to leave with $10. Thing is though, they make so much margin on the used games that it makes up for the lower margin stuff like consoles and new games.
Although, I did like getting free consoles. If we wouldn't buy it because it was too old, people would sometimes just tell us to take it. That's how I got my Dreamcast.

Here's my thing:
I don't buy a game unless I know I'm going to enjoy it. Why not just a rent a game for a night first ($3-5 cost) and see if you like it before you drop $60 on it?
I despise people who bitch and moan that they don't like their new game but won't return it because they'll still have lost money.

It's not half as bad as the gamefly commercial where this one guy throws a tv out the window just because he bought a bad game.

I don't think I've ever been offered more than 3 for a single game. Offer 9 and I'd probably do backflips.

The thing is, I'm not going to trade in just one damn game. I'm going to trade in 3-4 games...and wait until there's a deal with a extra trade-in credit to when I trade in said games.
SUCK IT, GAMEFLY!

I've only ever traded in games I know I'll have no interest in ever playing again. I got my enjoyment out of them, so what do I care how much I get for them when the alternative is them sitting on my shelf collecting dust?

I don't think I've ever been offered more than 3 for a single game. Offer 9 and I'd probably do backflips. If it's a pretty new, popular game you'll get somewhere in that range. FOr example, trade in that year's Madden a week after release and you'll probably get closer to $20 because they can resell it for $5-10 under the new price.

As a former employee of Gamestop, I will never trade in a game there again, I usually don't trade in games period unless I didn't like it. Even then I try to give it to my brother or something.

Yeah, funny thing, Gamefly's anti-GameStop commercials have had the exact opposite of their intended effect on me. They make me want to NOT use Gamefly.

SUCK IT, GAMEFLY! EXACTLY! And on top of that, if I am trading in games, it is usually only games from the last 12 months, to maximize the return value. I mean hell, I like to think I did well for myself when I traded in Uncharted 3, Catherine, and Final Fantasy XIII effectively for Just Cause 2 and Mortal Kombat 9(I really just traded them in for a $50 PSN card, but used that to buy those).

I remember 10 years ago when I started doing trade ins at a local place, they actually offered me pretty good money. In fact, they bought my broken Atari for $60 with about 20 games (all of which could be bought for $2 or $3 each). They also bought my PS1 version of The Game of Life for $30 and I think only sold it for $35. Also one year, a copy of Rival Schools was on the shelf, but since it wasn't in the system, I got it for free. No joke.

"Hi, I'd like to trade this game in for some cash."
"Okay, what game is it?"
"It's the game Night Trap for the 3DO system."
"Here's nine dollars."
"Nine dollars for this game?"
"No, I'll give you nine dollars to take that game out of this store and have it destroyed, burned, and buried in the ocean so no one will ever have to subjected to the horrors that lie within it."
