So I hear Tara's ass looked great. In other news, the sun rises in the east & sets in the west.

I think it's obvious who the leader of Aces And 8's is... Chavo just found out it's Hornswoggle.

We'll see what happens. Jeff won but he got injured by the Aces and Eights so maybe they'll attack him again or his injury gets aggravated moreso by some other means to the point that Hogan removes him from the match or something. I don't think the story has fully played out yet. What's the point of the tournament if Jeff gets removed from the match? Even the WWE, as stupid as they've been with the Rumble at times the last bunch of years, hasn't had the Rumble winner do nothing/not get a title shot at Mania since 1999 (when Vince of all people won). Agreed. Storyline stuff is fine, but the tournament itself was/is strong enough on its own that it doesn't need any additional stuff added. The series is something that makes TNA at least suspension of disbelief wise feel more 'legit'; which makes it unique and entertaining. Using it as just another part of a story, rather than an arc in its own right? No thanks.

Even the WWE, as stupid as they've been with the Rumble at times the last bunch of years, hasn't had the Rumble winner do nothing/not get a title shot at Mania since 1999 (when Vince of all people won). All I could argue is that it would put over what a burden the Aces and Eights are over TNA. Which would be easier to digest if TNA already had a BFG series or two under their belt that went well. Last year's was a disaster. This year's was far improved but if it goes the way it looks like it's going it just sets a bad precedent that there's no sense getting too wrapped up in wins and losses since anyone can just rise up after some screwy powerplay at the end of it. I don't know. Ultimately I'm not closing my mind to the idea that they'll clean up the storyline still, but I definitely think they were a bit sloppy in how they got there. If Hardy makes it to BFG, then the injury angle was dumb and pointless, if he doesn't make it to BFG it really undermines all the great work they did on the series itself. I feel like they had Hardy win just to throw the Aces and Eights scent off of Bully Ray, but I don't think that worked, and honestly sometimes I wish between TNA and WWE that they'd just go with the logical, and predictable path no matter how much the fans have already figured it out. Sometimes you just have to take that route so as not to damage the overall storytelling.

I just don't think they really know where the Aces & Eights thing is going. It's worked out well, probably better than they expected, and they're running with it longer than planned while trying to come up with something that won't get dumped on by the fans.

I really enjoyed the x-div match and thourght it was a shame it was so badly placed on the card. Zema is really coming into his own and finally wrestling more like a heel. Him, Sonjay, and Kenny King could do great things if they get to have a long, back and forth fued for the title.

You know we've all been praising TNA for months now. I think they've been great post-Lockdown (which was a very underwhelming PPV in it's own right) and I've been giving them their rightful praise but tonight has been coming. In the back of my head I always had this nagging thing telling me as well as things were going TNA would somehow manage to f*** it up (conditioning I guess) and tonight, well they royally f***ed it up. It was a PPV that got rid of the idea of having good matches in favour of progressing a storyline (A&8's) but the story didn't progress at all hence it was just a bad PPV. Don't even get me started on Hardy winning at the end, that was one of the most bullshit things I've ever seen. The only thing I can take solace in was the fact that I got every result right (sans Kaz being the one to pin Styles not Daniels) in the Pick 'Em game.

That's TNA for you. They're terrible for about a year or so, then go on a hot streak for about five months, then they manage to blow it all up and you're stuck at square one for another year.
I bet Hogan and Bischoff were in charge of Aces and Eights all along and they'll form a new faction called Forever. And they'll spend the entire first hour of the post-BFG Impact talking about how they fooled everyone.

I'm going to try a different view here. TNA's booking and presentation of the product lately has been really well handled. Tonight, we had the penultimate ppv before the big one, and horror, they have a crowd who are lukewarm at best. As each match occurs, it becomes apparent that the only thing the crowd is hot for, is Hardy. So TNA on the fly rewrites everything to make Hardy the hero of the night, try and get some response from the apathy of the crowd.
They've got four impacts to tidy everything up for BFG, so maybe they just tried, on the night, to make the best of the situation?
A lot of TNA's best PPV's of the past six months have also had a very good crowd reaction. When the material is solid, the wrestling given the focus and the crowd is into it, that's when the magic happens. They get one where the crowd is lukewarm, and try on the fly to get them involved.
The fact that to the audience at home, it looks like a cluster is because TNA creative aren't looking for OUR response, they're looking to please the live crowd in the zone.
Just a thought, but TNA's booking has been so solid recently, I could see this being a live shake up at no notice rather than just them dropping all the balls at once.

I wasn't that big a fan of this show, nothing seemed that important [to me] outside of the Aries/Armbreaker encounter but they should have had the reveal over who it was there, lead to a bigger reveal next month.
Most of the matches were decent, but I didn't really feel any of them. Most could have been cut down by 5 minutes and I'd have had a better opinion. Also, someone kill the AJ/Daniels feud. One more month of this dead horse when it's already stunk up the house for a few years. Daniels/AJ deserve better than to face each other.
The fan response was naff but truth be told I'm more bothered that nothing of importance happened on this PPV. Hardy winning the BFG series is fair enough [even though I'd have preferred Bubba/Joe] but eh, I have no interest in even contemplating him as TNA champ.
EDIT: on the upside, it's the only non-great TNA PPV in a few months, and it wasn't bad.
