Very sad indeed. I didn't realise how many of his films I liked until I read his obituary, great filmmaker.

Gutted. He made so many films that I loved: Top Gun, True Romance, Crimson Tide, The Last Boy Scout. He was a Director who although he didn't always make great films, I always wanted to see them.

He apparently had inoperable brain cancer, which would explain why he did it. It's a shame, he was very talented.

The more I look at his filmography the more I realize how many films of his I enjoyed and how much he was underrated him as a Director. I have never had him top of my favourite directors list, but he really deserves to be on it. I have loved Unstoppable, Deja Vu, Enemy of the State, Man on Fire, BHC II to name a few. I loved his quick pace and camerawork making his work the ultimate popcorn movies. I really need to watch Pelham 123. In every interview that I have seen of him he seemed like a humble and genuinely nice person. RIP

A man was for some reason driven to take his own life. Strangely, I don't care about who saw it.

He apparently had inoperable brain cancer, which would explain why he did it. It's a shame, he was very talented. According to TMZ that is false: Tony Scott did NOT have an inoperable brain tumor, or for that matter brain cancer at all ... this according to Scott's family. TMZ has learned ... Scott's wife told investigators the rumor that Tony had inoperable brain cancer is "absolutely false." Although the autopsy results have been deferred pending more tests, our sources say there is no evidence of brain cancer. What's more ... we're told Scott's wife says Tony did not have any other severe medical issues that would have caused him to take his own life. If you're at the stage where taking your own life seems like the thing to do, thinking of others is often the last thing on your mind. "Being rude" probably doesn't even enter anyone's mind at that point. I feel terrible for those who witnessed it, but I feel much worse for him.
