So, AIM (Possibly MODOK, or an origin story for him at least) Iron Patriot and a rumored Mandarin as well as the Extremis plot being rumored as well. I don't think there's enough going on in this movie.
Let's just bump it up to four hours, throw in Titanium Man, Crimson Dynamo and a Maria Hill subplot as well.
This sounds like two movies worth of stuff.

Don't forget Firepower, a minor Iron Man villain who is also supposed to be in this.

I call them working on MODOK as the credits scene.

I'm guessing AIM is the group that the Inventor of the Extremis works for. I wouldn't get too crazy on guessing, epescially for MODOK.

I'd say you are pretty close to righr, except that Killian will probably get Mallen's powers at the end for the last showdown.

Ah. I stopped reading comics after Disassembled, so frankly I'm a little in the dark on this whole Extremis thing.

Ah. I stopped reading comics after Disassembled, so frankly I'm a little in the dark on this whole Extremis thing. I never read the thing, but apparently Extremis is like some sort of nanomachine-based techno-organic virus that gave this one terrorist named Mallen like enhanced physical abilities, energy blasts, the works. Iron Man also gets it, too, but not as much as Mallen did or something.

I'm probably gonna assume (even if it's way off base) that AIM somehow is behind the Iron Patriot.

Comic Vine is suggesting that the "Iron Patriot" is actually Detroit Steel, which makes a lot more sense IMO. MODOK would make a fantastic villain for a future film, he's just so iconic.

I'd hope there won't be any more villains in this thing. MODOK's cool and all, but hold off on him - Iron Man's rogues gallery kind of sucks and anything possible to pad it out a bit more is pretty welcome.
Though then again, he'd be welcome for this as opposed to a third straight movie where the finale's a big showdown with someone else with a suit.

Only if Justin Hammer is back, but we kinda already had that storyline last film.
It would be weird having the Iron Patriot armour as a different character with a different person inside as well! Too much change! Too much change!!

If that's the case, then they probably should've chosen colours that closely match Detroit Steel rather than the Iron Patriot-esque scheme they're using.

Would they be able to use the Iron Patriot?
Wouldn't that kind of fall under the Spider-man stuff as it was Osborne?

No, when they sold the rights, they sold the rights to Osborne and to Green Goblin.
Iron Patriot is just a suit of armour, as long as they dont have Osborne in the suit without a deal made with Sony or a contract loop hole, they aren't breaking anything
