I know with comics as with wrestling and most geeky things, people tend to assume that older automatically equals better, but I just cannot get behind some of the "classic" costumes for a lot of characters. At least for the most part both DC and Marvel have been better at updating their characters' costumes without such extreme (word choice intentional) deviation from the roots as we saw in the 90's. That being said, sometimes a clean break is a lot better for a character IMO. My biggest example off the top of my head is Sinestro. Like Aquaman, his classic costume is too irrevocably associated with Superfriends, and let's face it, this look: ...is never ever going to look in-place again. Even for the Silver Age it's kind of a lame costume in comparison to other contemporaries. Aside from being inexplicably hard to find a good reference of, his modern costume... ...manages to evoke his original costume while being much, much more badass, a lot more thematically relevant, and as a whole a lot easier to take seriously as a credible threat. Of course, we could be here all day with the Silver Age if we wanted to...

I preferred Havok's 90s costume to his "eggbeater" hood look. Maybe it was kind of "too 90s" but at least he looked a lot cooler.

First name that came to mind was Luke Cage. "Black t-shirt and jeans" is so much better for the no-nonsense character he is now than "canary yellow shirt and metal tiara".

I don't think he's wearing it anymore, but Wolverine's black and silver X-force costume was stunning! I thought he looked great in it, and it was something really striking and stood out (the other members not withstanding). It was nice to see him not wearing some form of yellow for a change.
I don't know if this really counts, but Spider-man's black and white "Venom" suit still holds a warm spot in my heart. There's times where I like it a lot more than I ever did his classic blue and reds.
The Micheal Keaton Batman suit is probably my favorite look for Batman ever. I always loved the blue and grey suit with the yellow belt and yellow shield bat insignia. The black costume kept the yellow belt and insignia (making them stand out far more than with the blue and greys) and Batman became truly intimidating. When they removed the yellow parts of the costume, especially in the Nolan movies, Batman looks so boring and kind of generic in solid black.

Honestly? Most of them. For example, I think the New 52 Superman's "battle suit" vibe looks a lot more sensible in 2012 than the circus strongman overtone, without being too big a departure like the "electro Superman" was.

The Tim Drake Robin costumes were so much better than the previous version. How did that Pedobear approved Robin costume last 50 years?

I've gotta say, Bucky's Captain America outfit was pretty damn cool.

Also, Aquaman's camouflage costume was the best he's ever looked so far.

The X-Men's all-black leather look in the films was cooler than the animated series outfits.

Aquaman's 90s viking look. I have no idea why they went back to his silver age look. it's so boring and generic looking. at least give him a beard again for christ's sake.
it's not TOO new but Daredevil's all-red costume looks a lot better than his original yellow and red getup.
ditto with Thor's current look. his original costume looked incongruous and silly. now his costume actually looks like its assembled parts actually go together.
Nightwing's black/blue (now black/red) getup, which is lightyears ahead of the incredibly tacky saturday night fever original costume and the shiny gold body-armor look he had in the early 90s. George Perez is an amazing artist but that original Nightwing costume has to be the single silliest thing he's ever drawn.it's telling that it isnt available as an alternate costume in Arkham City.
for a time in the late 80s Hawkman wore a suit of black body armor with his cowl and wing harness. it looked a lot cooler than just green pants.
the black leather look the X-men wore during Grant Morrison's New X-men run. I actually really like the classic blue and yellow spandex, but these outfits combined the more muted movie costumes with something more utilitarian (in all honesty if those outfits in the movie still looked silly, even if they weren't blue and yellow. the blue/yellow outfits from First Class looked fantastic, though).

I like all the new 52 uniforms. Batman's makes much more sense, and is very in tune with the movies. I like how many of them look like armor as well, or some sort of actual uniform, not spandex.

The X-Men's all-black leather look in the films was cooler than the animated series outfits. I have to pick and choose. I prefer Cyclops' outfit in the animated series to any other incarnation(I think the old "whole head covered" thing just looks dumb).

I greatly prefer Hawkeye's new 616 costume and his current Ultimate costume over his old gaudy purple getup with the silly mask.

Am i the only one who dug daredevil's black and red outfit? And while we're talking about 90s costumes, they need to somehow find a way to incorporate jean paul azrael's batsuit into continuity again.

I second Tim Drake's Robin, the long green tights are a lot better than the little green underpants.
