I remember at the time thinking about this, when these who were on top of the wrestling/sports entertainment world.
To me, Goldberg always seemed so much more real, so much more scary, so much more stiff. I think he's have probably killed Stone Cold if you put them in a room and only one could walk out.
I mean, he darned near kicked Bret Hart's skull in and he wasn't even trying. And some of those spears had to leave guys feeling lucky if they could still breathe.
Just wonder what others think, and why.

Jericho punked him out, so I gotta back Austin.

From the little I've heard on the subject, Goldberg looked a lot more bad than he actually was. It's entirely possible the dude just doesn't know how to fight.
I'm pretty certain Austin knows how to fight.

Austin was part of the last generation of real "tough guy" wrestlers who had sometimes had to back up their skills in real life so I'll give it to him.

Goldberg was all show muscles, and had no fighting technique whatsoever. Austin knew a hell of a lot of holds, and was no small man himself. I'd give it to Austin.

Austin also has a broken neck which requires constant surgeory so if its a shoot fight all Goldberg has to do is give one stiff punch to his neck and he is down.

Goldberg but it is competitive. Maybe I am wrong, but Goldberg looks too much like an MMA guy for me to think he would lose.

Jericho punked him out, so I gotta back Austin. IIRC correctly Jericho didn't punk him out as much as grab a front facelock and hold on for dear life.

Perhaps, but if Goldberg couldn't break it, how tough is he really?

Perhaps, but if Goldberg couldn't break it, how tough is he really? Realistically if you catch most anyone in a good solid front facelock/guillotine choke that's it. There are probably a fair chunk of solid MMA fighters that can't get out of one applied well.

Austin during his prime drawing time had a badly injured neck and two shaky knees. As long as Goldberg keeps his head up and avoids something like a facelock he'd probably hurt Austin

Goldberg played pro football he's no wuss. Austin most likely can hold his own(or could in the past before all his injuries). Both are big boys. Sounds like a reasonable comparison. Prime for prime I would take hmmmm.....I don't know...hell Paul Orndorff would whupp both their assess.

Well, to me Booker whipping Batista's ass is a better example of a punking out than the Jericho/Goldberg action. I'm pretty sure that Jericho even said in his book that he was lucky to be credited with a win in that one.
