Is the application process for this the same as being on the PWI 500?

I kinda agree with Tanahashi in the top spot, but I definitely rank Punk over Orton.. and Shingo's way too high on that list. I'd swap him and Nakamura, even if this is kayfabe considering Nakamura won the G1. Lack of Kotaro Suzuki is disappointing. In my opinion, you can't have Nakajima on there without Suzuki, considering these two put out some of the best jr matches in NOAH this year. Richards did have a good year if we're kayfabing it.
I'm on the fence on Cena being on the list. While he did have solid matches, he stunk up Wrestlemania... That's a pretty big screw up on his part. He probably should be on the list, considering some of the other guys that got included. Ziggler really deserved more love. The dude's been on a tear this year. I really don't see how Rey's on the list.

Sweet Mother! This publication still maintains credibility how? Asides from the stoneminded bias towards indy/Japan guys, they can't even stick together a competent magazine. I've been spotting typos/misuses of words in the thing for a while. I mean, isn't it the least you can expect of an internationally syndicated, well-established publication?
Ugh, there's just so many reasons this magazine is dire. I think it's obvious that Fin Martin (Editor/Columnist) lost his flair for the business with the demise of the original ECW, and has been growing increasingly disenfranchised with the game ever since, to the extent he currently seems to possess nothing but contempt and cynicism for it.
What's worse is, there's kids wanting to get a little peak behind the curtain, and read this rag, only to be greeted with the now typical jaded ramblings of whatever current joylessness Martin's refusing to indulge in.
Oh, and the heavy Japan/Indy bias is almost self-parodying at this stage.

I just came to say 2 points
Akira Tozawa at 14 is an absolute joke. He has had a beast of a year and his matches have been generally considered Match of the Night on any card that he's been on in America, Japan and UK.
Ricochet should be much higher on the list considering he's an no-name (lack of better words) gaijin, on his first tour of Japan and has held 3 of Dragon Gate's titles. Kayfabe-wise he should be in the top ten at least.
What a joke of a list.

^ I disagree. In fact, I'd say that 14 is overrating Tozawa. Sure, he's put on some awesome matches, and he's one of my favorite DG wrestlers because he's not as retarded as some of the other guys there. There are guys on the list ranked lower than him that consistently put on as good, if not better matches than him on an even bigger stage and have actually had more title success in the year.
Ricochet's ranked too high too considering he's over guys like Ziggler (who had several contenders for free TV match of the year and other awesome matches), Nagata (who's had an incredible year based on his stuff he did in NJPW and AJPW alone. He had an incredible match with Ishii for crying out loud! Sorry, but winning the New Japan Cup, AJPW Champion Carnival, and Tokyo Sports Fighting Spirit award carries way more weight than winning Dragon Gate titles. It might be a tough pill to swallow, but that's fact.), James Storm (who has been the total package of mic work and consistently good ring work in TNA and one of the few bright points in the company), and others.
