I have something I need to get off of my chest. I hate Taco Bell. When I say hate, I truly mean hate. This is an irrational and active hate. As in, I dedicate moments of my day actually thinking about how much I hate Taco Bell. From their smug advertising of their new "gourmet" bowls to their constantly harping on their crappy Dorrito shell tacos. I hate them.
Every single time I see a commercial, I get mad. I am aware this is irrational, if I could control it, I would, but that would make this hatred rational. I hate Taco Bell the way so many people love it. That in itself annoys me. Plenty of people love Wendy's, McDonalds and Burger King, but they don't feel the need to harp on it, like it is some kind of movement. It is crappy "food." I hate the way people feel the need to justify the eating of said terrible food. "Oh, but it's 79,89 or 99 cents!" So what? That means it's okay to be completely terrible in every single way? I apologize if this rant offends anyone, but I really cannot take it anymore. It's obviously a matter of taste, but I really can't believe people actually think Taco Bell is good. Good for the price? Maybe. That isn't good though. You shouldn't settle for mediocre food for under a dollar. Go somewhere else and get a decent meal. Pay the extra couple bucks and go to Moes or something.
I am sure people will point out how irrational this rant is, and that is perfectly acceptable, it is needless, but so are plenty of things all of you dislike. I don't even know why Taco Bell bothers me so much, it just does. I kind of judge people for eating it. It's like I don't know how to fathom it. It's like a fast "food" restaurant is the bane of my existence. Maybe if someone could explain to me the appeal of Taco Bell without mentioning how cheap it is, then maybe I would understand it. When I hear, "oh yeah, I know it isn't good, but it's cheap" I get even more annoyed. You shouldn't settle on something bad because it's cheap. I don't see people as emotionally attached to the McDonalds dollar menu.
Help me understand the appeal, please!!! I just don't get it at all.

Doritos Locos Taco > any achievement you could ever hope to achieve
That's not a knock on you...just saying...you will never achieve anything as perfect as the Doritos Locos Taco.

I dunno, I've eaten at one, like, 3 times in life, mostly because we don't have one in town. I'd eat there, why not?? I get more upset at Wendy\s claims of freshness on whatever Taco Bell is selling.

Don't get me started on Wendy's. Maybe this should have been a rant about smug fast food advertising. I dislike the condescending Wendy's girl and I cannot stand any time I hear Dave Thomas' daughter talking about Wendy's food being fresh. Very annoying, indeed.

They are the only place that sells Mountain Dew Baja Blast. My love of Mountain Dew Baja Blast knows no bounds. Add the Dorito Tacos, Grilled Stuffed Burritos and Mexican Pizzas... I gotta go to Taco Bell now.

Their quality varies, at least at my local Taco Bell. Like you can go one week and the food tastes great, then the next week they hardly put any meat in your taco or the meat has disgusting hard chunks in it.
I wouldn't say that they're cheap, because if you want something other than a basic taco (which I hardly ever order by itself) the price is on par with some of the more expensive offerings at Burger King or Wendy's. Mexican Pizzas are my favorite thing on Taco Bell's menu.
I usually only buy soft tacos, because hard shells cut up the roof of my mouth -- and if you have leftovers, soft tacos hold up better in the microwave.

Taco Bell > Wendy's > Arby's
Seriously, I've eaten at Arby's maybe 4 times in my lifetime and I don't know why it's so popular. It's always dry and uneventful in the world of roast beef...yet I see them spring up all over the place as opposed to a lot of other fast food joints out there.

Sure, it's nothing like real Mexican food, but it's familiar. You can walk into any Taco Bell in the country, and you know what to expect. It's also many people's first/only exposure to 'Mexican' food.

I will agree with you on their new direction with commercials. I absolutely hate when Taco Bell takes itself seriously. That one about those people taking a road trip to get the Dorito taco makes me laugh my ass off. I realize it's "the trip, not the destination", but it's still hilarious to me that of all the excuses to do a road trip with friends, a freakin' Dorito taco is what they choose? It's hokey.
I've never had an issue with Taco Bell before. I also love authentic Mexican food (Taco Bell's most vocal detractors tend to act like people don't know the difference for some reason). But I don't care if someone doesn't like it - it's fast food, who cares? If you think it sucks, so be it. It's not like it's great food or anything. But it won't stop me from loving those volcano tacos.

The Arby's closest to me was closed by the health dept. for constant violations (rat infestations and other things) and torn down. And when they were open for the past few years, the food was always cold and the roast beef was tough to chew.

I figure the only folks that are keeping Arby's in business are people who need driving directions.

Taco Bell is certainly better than Wendys and their messy burgers that i have to redress myself after adding in additional ketchup. I just started exploring the Taco Bell menu (Gordita Crunch, Chicken Quesadilla, Doritos Locos) And i must say there food is not the scorn of the earth. But i have a feeling op had an experience, so i understand why he may be angry.
Qdoba is MILES ahead of Taco Bell though. Qdoba is like the subway equivalent of Tacos and mexican food. Not only is the food so tasty. The vast amount of ingredients and choices for your taco is amazing. I've never had a pulled pork and shredded beef taco with salsa and cooked fajita vegetables until i went to Qdoba.

Wendys has the best burgers and nuggets. Taco Bell is amazing. I love the cheesy gordita crunch and crunchwrap supreme.
