I'm going to assume it's Coulson, given that it involves SHIELD, and that he's standing next to Not-Nick Fury.

Heh? Black Knight... a supporting character in a /Gambit/ comic? That seems random as hell, unless it also involves Exodus somehow. Still, any exposure is good exposure, I suppose/hope... Gambit is coming to the UK for something and meets up with some of the members of MI:13. That's why, nothing, as far as revealed, to do with Exodus. I'm going to assume it's Coulson, given that it involves SHIELD, and that he's standing next to Not-Nick Fury. Yup. Coulson and Samuel L Fury come together, a partners sort of thing.

So, Spider-Man and Mary Jane are getting back together. But in Marvel NOW, Spider-Man isn't Peter Parker anymore. www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=41624 for the rest of the news. Top fan theory at the moment is that Doctor Octopus, after finding out Spidery is Peter, manages to do a brain swap, leaving Peter a nearly dead old cancer ridden paraplegic while he gets to strut about town in a brand new Peter suit. Have to admit, if that turns out to be true, I'd buy the hell out of that book - it'd be a finite story with an obvious eventual conclusion, but a better ride than clones or a random new guy.

If it's Dr. Octopus acting as Spidey, it'd probably make sense he has a "superiority" complex of sorts.

I still think it kinda sucks that he only ever seems to appear in X-related titles rather than being at least a regular guest star in the Avengers titles, though.

yeah I personally don't have a problem with someone else in the suit for a bit either. as long as it's never presented as a "totally permanent change yo" I don't have a problem. but Marvel (read: Joe Quesadilla) needs to get over themselves and put Peter and MJ back together. they're always a couple in every other form of media for a reason. hell, look how many people said "who the hell is Gwen Stacy?" when the movie came out (and I say that as someone who likes Gwen).

It should also be noted the even Amazing SPider-Man 2 will be hiring a Mary Jane - as such I totally expect Gwen to die and then it be Peter and MJ for ASM3.
The idea that him being married made it hard to tell stories or whatever is just dumb. She's still a member of the support cast and he still dates. Just put them back together, but dont have them, get married or get her pregnant.
They can be in a long term committed relationship without wedding bells or babies.

exactly. and all the best post-OMD Spider-man stories could've still been told exactly the same if they were still married. I just don't get the argument that a single hero is inherently more interesting. look, if the guy writing the book can't write a married superhero, the problem's with the choice of writer, not the fact that the character's married.

Precisely. Out of everyone who said it was harder to tell Spidey stories when he was with MJ, I am yet to here any of them give a reasonable answer as to WHY it's harder. It just really annoys me. I liked Peter and MJ as a couple, there was absolutely no need for them to break up. That's why I gave up on reading Spider-Man after OMD (besides the fact that that story was the biggest pile of garbage I've ever read).

It's arrogance on Joe Q.'s part, and clinging to what HE liked.
Meanwhile they'd been married since 1986 and no fans really had an issue with it.
Then there's the ludicrous notion of HOW they dissolved the marriage. ( Sorry, Spidey dealing with the devil, and how outta character and stupid that is will probably always stick in my craw.)
OMD did what the Clone Saga couldn't, and finally forced me outta being a die-hard reader. Now I'll pick up an issue here or there.. haven't bought one in like two-three years, but it torpedoed my faith in Marvel's stewardship of my favorite and their flagship character.

As a long time non-supporter of The Ultimates, I gotta admit, I picked up the issue where Cap is sworn in as president...and...
It was actually really good! I couldn't believe how competently and relatively mature the situation was handled, yeah it got a little cliche with Cap basically cowboying up and taking back cities himself, but dammit that's just COOL. The writing was done well, the characters were on point, and I've gone from picking it up on a whim to now most likely finishing out the arc.

I'm glad they haven't dropped Bishop's Heel turn. he's way more interesting as a bad guy than he ever was as a good guy. every writer whose ever tried Hal Jordaning a hero (perhaps Cyclopsing would be more accurate) needs to read what Duane Swyerscinzki did with Bishop to see how to do it RIGHT.
