Adam Copeland is no longer Edge

Adam Copeland stated during a radio interview in his native Ontario, Canada that he is no longer permitted to use the "Edge" name for public appearances since he is no longer affiliated with WWE.

"For me, Edge was just a character. I never introduced myself as (Edge). I never really worried about what people can advertise me as. It doesn't really matter to me. I've always just introduced myself as Adam Copeland. I never really thought too much about it", Copeland said in the interview.

"I think if I would have wrestled another five or seven years, I would have regrets. At this point, the rest of my body feels great. Once I get the surgery and they take the pressure off of my spinal cord, I'm going to feel like a million bucks. I feel better than most wrestlers my age; most of those guys are walking like Boris Karloff, while I'm able to run laps! I kind of look at it and go, 'Yeah, I think this happened for a reason.' From a physical standpoint, this is the healthiest I've ever felt."

The name thing is hard to get from Vinnie Mac. Cause its all about the MONAY $$$!! A rare fact is that the same thing happened with Vince & Rock. I remember people got all pissy about it and said he was dropping it because he was ashamed of his past and all that BS but really it was because Rock & Vince didnt come to terms to agree to a co ownership over the name until years after Rock left. Same thing here is happening with Edge sadly. But at least he is doing well and trying to make it on his own name, which I see nothing wrong with.

Well, with him making a heavier focus on acting, and leaving the business behind, this kinda makes sense.

Nice to see a wrestler that can just move on. He's not addicted to the limelight, doesn't have this obsession with showing how much he loves dis bizniss by having another neck surgery so he can wrestle another 3 years, and seems to have gotten out with his health intact.

The dude loved it, no doubt. Anybody could tell from how emotional he was in his retirement speeches.

However, he's clearly one of those guys who can move along with his life and find other things to love when wrestling was no longer an option for him. There's not enough of those types in the business.

Did you see his goodbye speech? He clearly did love the business greatly. At the same time, he spent 19 years in the wrestling business and saw what happened to the people who held onto it too long, who kept going or maybe even had a bright future ahead of themselves before a mistake happened. He's happy he emerged with his body intact, that he'll be able to go into old age without too many problems, and made rather good money in his time. I think he's just keeping a level head about it and knowing that how it worked out was probably for the best. He isn't of that old breed who will work until they die in the ring and always believed in the power of absolute kayfabe.
