I think most people will agree that it's impossible to take the People's Elbow and Leg Drop as devastating finishers, but which one do you have the harder time taking seriously?

People's Elbow.
Mostly because I can by a 300 pound guy dropping a leg on your throat after beating you down and kicking you in the face (or slamming you if you were a big guy) than an elbow to the chest.

The People's Elbow.
The Atomic Leg Drop at least had 300 pounds coming down on your throat.

It was never just the People's Elbow, though. That was more of an exclamation point after another high-impact move, like the Rock Bottom or Spinebuster.

I never found either of them hard to take seriously. Just because both moves have theatrics before the execution doesn't mean they would hurt any less or something. Getting an elbow dropped on your chest or a leg across your throat would hurt like hell.
Plus, the term "less believable" doesn't really matter in a world where the irish whip exists.

I picked the leg drop, because I never found anything about Hogan believable.

Somehow there are no other obstructions either so he runs up the ramp, through the back, out the door of the arena and straight down the freeway.

I always figured the People's Elbow was more of a super taunt rather than a devastating move. I really dont recall Rock using it to BEAT someone more than a handful of times either really tbh

The People's Elbow. The Atomic Leg Drop at least had 300 pounds coming down on your throat. this, but neither of them are really believable.

if the legdrop ever looked like 300 pounds coming down on the neck, it would certainly be believable.
Instead, it always is a 300 pound man jumping on his butt while his 40 or so pound leg gently drapes across your chest.
The People's Elbow was always meant to be ridiculous, but they strangely made it a serious move for some reason.

I always took the people's elbow as not only a single elbow drop, but millions and millions of elbow drops that The Rock channeled from the people, thus devastating his opponent.
...What? I like to think of wrestling as DBZ but with the narrator speaking all the time.

It actually takes much longer than that, but they do it off-screen. That's why Rock doesn't wrestle too often nowadays, he's charging up The People's Elbow with all the advertising and hype. Shows like "Once in a Lifetime" only further his power. The People's Elbow works like the Spirit Bomb, is what I'm getting at.

The Worm is definitively the worst finisher as far as execution, especially since it came from a 180 lb man.

The point of the People's Elbow was typically that the Rock Bottom had put you out for so long that he even had time to do the People's Elbow before he'd put you away.

Hogans leg drop. Rock didnt use the People's elbow to finish off many opponents, while Hogan's leg drop followed him his whole career.
And it was never Hogans "leg" it was the back of his knee.
