no one causes s*** when the get junk mail, no one causes s*** when they get spam, but as people get crappy phonecalls they realise they can retaliate and do. I've always just said no and hung up, its a lot easier and doesn't involve being a dick x I used to drive my ISP crazy over spam - I'd report the same site multiple times and they got so sick of me they started sending form e-mails in response. I also went round and round with AOL/AIM over pornsite IMs that I received. AOL refused to take responsibility despite AIM using their engine. Junk mail can be recycled, at least....

So now I just say not interested and moved on. No sense f***ing with a kid trying to make 7 bucks an hour. This. On the rare occasion that I actually answer my home phone, if it's a telemarketer, I decline politely and get on with my day. I just don't see the point in being a dick for no reason.

It's far better to just hang up or say you're not interested and hang up. I really don't see a point in being rude. I see it as a way for someone to take out their own frustrations out on someone else that can't do anything about it.

I usually listen politely then tell them I'm not interested. You shouldn't f*** with telemarketers....that's like trying cheat a stripper out of money. Life's clearly dealt them a s***ty hand, why should I make it worse. Bam. Nail on the head. I used to be a fairly good telemarketer (selling webspace & servers to small businesses) before giving up that career route* to do something more musical. I don't insult those who call me or waste their time, generally just tell them I'm not interested but know they get so many people calling them c***s/dickheads/wankers/f***ers that I prefer to be polite before hanging up. Most telemarketers are normal fellow like you and I, they don't need to be made to feel worse when the likelihood is that they're allowed to be released from their contract (if they have one) if they don't make x amount of sales a week by ruthless bosses. * by being sacked after not making a sale one week when *drum roll* I was only in one day. Jerks.

About once a week I get a call from a number I don't recognize. I've been looking for a job, so I usually get really excited, pick up and hear *LOUD BOAT HORN (SERIOUSLY F'N LOUD)* YOU WIN A CRUISE I get this too. If you look the numbers that they use up, you'll see that there are lots of people out there being annoyed by this stupid foghorn on a daily basis, sometimes multiple times a day! And there's nothing we can do to make it stop...

Life's clearly dealt them a s***ty hand, why should I make it worse. Unlike the stripper, I didn't invite the telemarketer to call me. That's why I am on the "Do Not Call" list. I didn't ask for them to call me and I don't want to be called. If I have to ask more than once to have my number removed, then tact doesn't cut it.

Yeah if they are telemarketers, chances are they don't like their jobs.
