Sick of reading all the hate about them in the media. I am not a fan of Phantom Menace but loved the ending and it made me anxious for 3 years to see what happens next. I really liked AOTC and while it lacked much action it brilliantly set everything up for my favorite movie of the whole Star Wars Saga ROTS. How that movie gets the hate it does I'll never know. I admit Phantom Menace started out so bad I remember thinking this isn't Star Wars and thought of walking out the theater. Do people just remember that and not give the others credit? I'd rank all the films:
1. Revenge of The Sith 2. Empire Strikes Back 3. Attack of The Clones 4. Return of The Jedi 5. A New Hope 6. Phantom Menace

They're just not very good.
Plus, the entire point was to tell the story of the fall of Anakin Skywalker, and instead Anakin wound up a character that very, very few people felt any positive feelings about. Hence there wasn't much emotion involved in watching him become Darth Vader.
Poised on the threshold of infinity, we see our world as it truly is: small, silent, fragile, alive, a drifting island in the midnight sky. It is our spaceship. Our Spaceship Earth.
How that movie (ROTS) gets the hate it does I'll never know.
Reasons 1-23:
The Acting of Hayden Christensen. He RUINED EVERYTHING that should've been awesome about Anakin's descent to the Dark Side. Planks of wood would've carried themselves better. That was seriously one of the worst acting jobs I've ever seen in a major motion picture. It was laughably bad.
They're terrible. If you care anything at all about good storytelling, then you'll notice the glaring problems that each movie has.
If you like them...good for you. But to say they aren't heavily flawed or are better than the original trilogy in any way is just asking for a 10 page thread.
I recommend watching the Plinkett reviews. He breaks down every single thing that is wrong with those movies and is far more enjoyable than the prequels themselves.

I disagree. I thought he did a good enough job with the material provided. He isn't a great actor, but I doubt anyone else could do anything with the material provided. Everyone besides Ian McDiarmid is a stale boring character who seems to just go through the motions of what's going on.
All you need to see is the last 20 minutes of Episode III.
Why? So I can laugh my ass off again? I love how everything is tied up in a nice little bow. Everything from tacking on Qui Gon's ghost, to Darth Vader acting like Frankenstein, to just accepting Palpatine's word without following up in any way, to Yoda giving up, to just about every other problem it had.

1. George Lucas is a great storyteller, but one of the worst writers of dialogue to ever grace Hollywood. 2. George Lucas is a great visual artist, but a horrible director. 3. 90% of the trilogy was shot on green screen, which led to very stilted performances.

This, so much.

I think the deal is that back when Episode 1 was announced, everyone thought it was going to be the 5 star mega hit that episodes 4-6 were. Then we got well.... Star Wars Ep 1. I think people hyped it to the point it was going to be a let down no matter what, and EP1 being a bad movie just made it worse.
My best to worst goes like this...
1. Empire Strikes Back 2. A New Hope 3. Revenge of The Sith 4. Return of The Jedi 5. Phantom Menace 6. Attack of The Clones
SIERRA NOVEMBER OSCAR WHISKEY DELTA OSCAR GOLF SIERRA SNOW DOGS!
3 was pretty cool the first time. But subsequent viewings just showed how poorly it was made. All CGI, with terrible writing, acting, and directing.
But highlights: Jake Lloyd being the worst Anakin ever imagined until Hayden Christiansen. Over explaining of things that didn't need it: miticlorians. Weird racial stereotypes. I hate sand. Anakins descent to the dark side being the easiest coup by an evil force in the history of evildom.
Honestly, I can accept the acting issues. What annoys me the most about the Prequels is that there was either no thought about the progression of technology, or a weird impulse to cram as much CGI into movies as possible. Maybe it's just nitpicky but it always bugs me.

Where to begin?
1. The acting is wooden. 2. The dialogue is laughable. 3. The story is boring. 4. The scenes are often cluttered. 5. The characters are unlikeable, emotionless, or inconsistent. 6. Yoda fighting Dooku. 7. The needless shoehorning in of characters like R2D2 and C3P0, in particular the ridiculous idea that Anakin built C3P0. 8. Midichlorians. 9. YODA FIGHTING DOOKU.
