As a Mancunian, i've been annoyed by this night for many months.
October 2004 - The first ever RAW and Smackdown tapings in England, at the Manchester Evening News Arena
November 2006 - RAW & Smackdown in Manchester. I couldn't attend.
November 2008 - RAW & Smackdown (& ECW) in Manchester. I was there for both shows.
November 2010 - RAW & Smackdown (& NXT) in Manchester. I was there for both shows.
So yeah.. when I found out we weren't getting our 'every other year' November taping I was gutted. I recently lost my job and i'm ridiculously in debt so I couldn't have gone anyway, but at the time I was really gutted.
However, having watched the show tonight. I know when UK crowds are dubbed with the hairdryer cheers and fake boos. Tonight that didn't happen.
A hot crowd all night, you did all us UK fans proud throughout the night. Thank you.
A special thank you for the reaction to Wade Barrett. He got a similar reaction in Manchester in 2010, however as the leader of Nexus vs. Cena it was heavily edited.
Tonight was just amazing, and I know you made a Preston boy happy. I've conversed with Wade on a few occasions and I feel incredibly lucky each time I have and I know that would have meant the World to him. I love that WWE have finally realised that cheap heat just won't work, year after year we endured Regal insulting us, it never worked. Just put Barrett out there and you get an amazing reaction, as shown tonight.
It sounds weird but I am rather emotional about the whole the thing. I'm very proud and as a Mancunian who lives dead between Preston and Manchester i'm gutted I wasn't there tonight but i'm so glad I got to see the reaction translated to TV.
I loved the "Engerland! Engerland! Engerland!" chant too. The "up the road" crap from Cole and JR annoyed me but it's not important in the long run.
I've been to TV tapings here 6 times, the crowd reaction has NEVER been given any justice on TV. Tonight it finally was.
So, Birmingham. Thank you. And sorry for ever doubting you!
