Mick had worked with Mero for several years. He felt he knew what Mero was worth vs him. I've worked with the same people over a several year period, but I don't bring their names up when I'm asking for a raise.

Foley was my favorite wrestler from back in the day. I'm not getting caught up in any of these rumors that show up on him. I'm over him because he never shows up with anything relevant to say anymore. His arguments against Punk have been just to get Punk some cheap heat. They've been such a reach in logic that it hurts to hear.

I can only judge Mick on the small amount of time I've spent with him in person, and he seemed cool to me. Same here. I actually got to joke around with him when I met him several years ago, and he totally pwned me. It was fun, and I've always had a high opinion of him (before that and since).

In his books when talking about the charity work, he constantly brags about what he has done and repeatedly throws it in the readers face how awesome he is. Having read all his books and listened to several interviews, and I don't get the vibe that you get. What you interpret as bragging, I see as him being genuinely proud of what he's done. He was asked by another wrestler what he thought about Rock after having a match with him, and his reply was "I don't think he has what it takes, maybe the company should cut their losses." Keep in mind, Rock was godawful at the time and I don't think many people would have disagreed. At the time, Mick didn't really have any kind of relationship with Vince, never mind the pull to try to get Rock fired. Mero was getting paid more than Mick, despite doing very little of worth in comparison. Foley had been featured high in the card and Mero's push had been dropped. In today's terms, this would be like Ziggler complaining about being paid less than Tensai. Rumours being the key word. Ambrose screwed up their angle, and Foley's comments reflected poorly on him, but until we have word from someone in the know we're only assuming he's to blame. No argument here. If we can rag on Lawler for doing it, Mick's fair game. And why should that be an issue? Who Foley is in his own time is his business, not ours.

I like Mick, but I admit it's kinda disturbing how he acts about the Divas. And some of the fan's stories in the Deadspin Virgil articles (if true) shatter the illusion of Mick as a family man who remains faithful to his wife.

I won't go into more detail because others were in it deeper than I was, but a few years back A close friend of mine was working on creating a show around Mick and his lovable style. He was totally into it, enjoyed the scripts, gave his OK. So my friend gets all this work arranged which includes hiring me as a writer and out of nowhere Mick goes back to the WWE (during his commentator days) and basically f***s all those people in the ass.
He's done this TWICE to somebody else so it wasn't a one time thing. That "lovable" Foley thing is an act. That's not rumor.

I've never heard the "tried to get Rock fired" story before. I think the OP is misinterpreting an anecdote from Foley's first book where another wrestler, not Vince, asked Mick about Rock after they had a match in early 1997. Foley said Rocky just didn't have it and the office might be wise to let him go. It was more an example of co-workers talking amongst themselves about the "new guy" than Foley trying to get Rock fired. Foley also admitted he was 100% wrong in that initial assessment. Yeah, and you can't really blame Foley for thinking that Smiley Blue Chipper Rocky Maivia wasn't going anywhere.

About the diva thing, Mick is a hapilly married man who seems to jokingly talk about the divas, Lawler has had actual relationships with women half his age, which I say good for him, but I can see why the two are treated differently.

Yeah some of these criticisms are silly since Foley is open about this stuff in his books. In terms of Rocky, he was merely asked a question and responded "Nah, this guy doesn't have it." In his 2nd book he noted how foolish in retrospect that comment was.
That said, Foley is one of those guys that has become someone that 2000 era Foley would have hated. A washed up old wrestler hanging on for whatever reason, with very little to contribute.

Just speaking about his contribution to the product the last year or so, he just doesn't have it any more. He's had one good promo (against Punk) but even that was flawed by the material he was reciting.
I really enjoyed his TNA world title run, and I do think he has a place, but he should be a once every 6 months hype promo man, not a "surprise" who appears once monthly and bores people in a Roddy Piper manner (I used to love Roddy, but he's not had it for a long while either).

What's the deal with Foley and "fawning" over the Divas?

Multiple reports on Deadspin paint him in a much different light then being a happily married man. Hey, it's not skin off my ass if he cheats around, but don't come off as mister high and mighty family man when it's not true.

Going to Vince and trying to get The Rock fired in 1997. This isn't what his book says. He says in his book that he told the road agent or whoever for his match that Vince should cut his losses and fire the guy. So you may well have heard a different story to the one in his book, but that's what the book says. And also, he flat out admits it in his book to prove the point that he was totally wrong about it.

I think he's always come off as smug, with an overinflated opinion of his self-worth to the industry. I remember there being an incident where he was giving a promo and the crowd started chanting "Austin" out of nowhere and him being visibly pissed off, even acknowledging it on the mic about how disrespectful it was. He went into even more detail about it in his (IIRC) second book, and how he complained to Terry Funk about it. For a guy who always tries to pass himself off as a folksy nice guy, I can't imagine Cena, Punk, or Rock carrying on about something like that if the crowd was chanting "YES!" or "We Want Ryder!". Personally, I started souring on him during that huge segment in his second book when he became an uber-McMahon brown-noser, when he kept tallies on things like how many times people drank in shows like Cheers and researching how much more frequently it happened on shows like that than it did in the then-Attitude-Era-WWF. Nothing but straw-man arguments and comparing apples and oranges all in the name of kissing Vince's ass. Flair really hit the nail on the head when he buried Foley in his book.
