So let me get this straight: Part 1. Jerry Lawler is the most hated on guy on the Internet because he is a bad commentator. Part 2. Jerry Lawler got a heart attack. Part 3. Jerry Lawler returns and does the same commentary...but it is all different now.
This is what I hate most about a person when something bad happens to him, it is like a free pass for 90% of the people that knew you before the incident.

he did sound reinvigorated. I just hope it continues for a while and he doesn't revert to "noticeably bored and inattentive King" like we had the last few years.

He had a couple of nice gags, but I guarantee that all the IWC goodwill he has built up since his heart attack will be gone inside a month. He never got it from me. I'm sorry that he had a heart attack, and I'm glad he's okay, but professionally he's far past his expiration date. The last couple months with him on commentary were unbearable, and it sucks that now we're going back to that same level.

His enthusiasm for things really seemed invigorated. He didnt have a career night or anything, but he was listenable.
And the "my rides here" line about the ambulance got a legit laugh out of me.

not to be a turd in the punchbowl, and granted i didn't watch raw last night nor can this be proven, but besides the ambulence crack, would we anyone of us really think his lines were that funny if he hadn't had the heart attack? ? And this is coming from someone who has never been a lawler hater.

Glad he did well, and had some real good zingers.
I miss the King who dressed like a king, though (the 90's look - black suit, original-style crown) - the T-shirted King just kills me.

This.. and please find my posts where i complained about King's commentary beforehand and then we'll talk. I never hated King's commentary, I just thought he was a bit bored by the whole thing. Last night he seemed genuinely excited to be back and more into it than he has in a long time. I imagine a scare like he had probably had something to do with it, plus his first holiday in 10 years probably helped too.

Hopefully it's woke him up a bit and now we can have the old King back. I woudn't mind if he turned heel!

I've always been of the opinion that when The King feels like giving a crap, he's solid gold, right up there with "The Brain" (that'll catch me some heat).
Maybe the heart attack made him realize that his in-ring career is on its way out, so he better focus on doing better commentary.

I've never disliked his commentary, but last night WAS the best I've heard him in a long time.

Probably better than his recent usual (the ambulance line also got a chuckle out of me), but yeah, I didn't mind him being off of commentary, and wasn't exactly thrilled he was back. I can't imagine people will be enjoying it for long.

absence makes the heart grow fonder. We took King for granted when he was gone and appreciate him more now that he's back on commentary. In a few weeks we'll (myself included) be asking for J.R. to come back again, mark my words.
That said, I enjoyed this line from King the most last Monday:
"KING: R-Truth speakin' a little Memphis right there!"
Props to Cesaro's commentary for the assist, but King's such a pro for making the continuation joke after Truth's promo. Little nuances like this you really appreciate King doing more after the heart attack that he probably always did, just nobody really noticed before.

It was fine on Monday because he had just returned after the heart attack and sounded like he was more than glad to be back, and it reflected on his commentary. But rest assure by the next 2 weeks, we'll all be reaching for the mute button again.
And yeah, don't pretend like you've never criticized his horrible commentary just because he had a heart attack. That isn't directed to anyone in particular, but I have seen some quick changes of judgment since his episode, so you know who you are.
