Saw these great photos on WWE.Com I remember Rick Rude originally being on Earthquake's team in 1990 and Akeem being on Sgt.'s team but never have heard anything about Bad News Brown originally being on Ted Dibiase's team. It is the 13th picture in.
Kayfabe wise you'd think Dibiase would know better after two years of problems with Bad News on teams but it makes sense if there was no other wrestler around to make a fourth team member. Boris Zhukov wouldn't fit in nor would Haku on Dibiase's team and Macho King was too big to be second to anyone. Boris should've been on the Sgt. team all along with Akeem being on Dibiase's.
22 years later and still finding out new things. The photos are amazing too. There are some I've never seen before. The Akeem photo on Sgt.'s team I've never seen. The Rude on Earthquake's team isn't new though as that was the photo used in WWF magazine. I've never seen the Andre 1989 team photo like that before. The 1991 Hacksaw team is interesting only showing three guys and the 1991 opposing heel team I've never seen that photo. The site does a good job of noting the replacements to the original lineup though they don't mention Rude being replaced by Haku.

I'm pretty sure they just used him as a stand-in for the "Mystery Partner" photo

I'm pretty sure they just used him as a stand-in for the "Mystery Partner" photo Rick Rude? No, I can vouch for the OP because I remember vividly in the old WWF Magazine, in an issue released before the event, they showed all of the teams and Rude was on Quake's team.

Yeah seeing Bad News in that team photo was a cool revelation for me too as he was never announced or advertised in the build to the show. I guess because he left so far in advance they never even had time to advertise him for the show, so they were able to come up with the mystery partner angle to improvise. Rude and Akeem both left in October and were both announced on TV and in the original ads, so they had to announce replacements for them.
I find it interesting though how far in advance they took those team photos as Bad News wrestled his last match at Summerslam 1990, leaving the company immediately after. So the photos were taken no later then late August, a whole three months before Survivor Series. As far as Dibiase having Brown on his team despite his past of walking out on teams, I guess in kayfabe Dibiase promised to give him some incentive money to make sure he would do a good job and be a team player unlike in previous years.

I wonder if any photos exist of Barbarian on Colonel Mustafa's team. That match was a lot of lower card or in transition guys and it didn't even get a photo on the back of the video tape but their names are mentioned and Barbarian was in Bully/Hercules' position.
Bad News is holding money in the photo. It is very interesting that he was gone since just after the last PPV. I wonder what would have been if Undertaker had not debuted then. He probably would have just debuted on a TV show rather than a big PPV and maybe if he had come later he would've gotten a bad gimmick but as good as he is I think he would have made a Berzerker or Skinner last 22 years plus.
I would have loved to see Akeem in camo face paint.

While we're at it, does any video or even photo footage exist of b brian blair on jake/duggan's team (he was advertised as far as on the box, but he was replaced at the event by scott casey)?

I don't remember Dusty Rhodes wearing that outfit with the top hat, long pants with black/red polka dots, and poncho.
Never knew Bad News Brown was supposed to be on the Million Dollar Team.
Odd that they didn't bother mentioning that Rude was replaced by Haku.
I never knew Anvil and Dragon were meant to be part of Duggan's team. I wonder if this meant that Dragon was going to be feuding with Bezerker, Skinner, or Bully Busick? Maybe Anvil was going to be feuding with one of them?

And Neidhart was feuding with Busick. I remember the Beverly Brothers attacking him after a match, which was why he was dropped.

^^ I never knew anyone on those 2 '91 teams were feuding other beyond Slaughter, Duggan and Mustafa.
Back in them days, not everyone on a Survivor Series team was necessarily feuding with someone on the other. They were just being used as talent......and not even filler talent, but people who'd do well and even win.

And frequently the guys who filled in were tied it one way or another. Like Warlord in 90. He was managed by Slick like Power &Glory, and briefly Martel

Actually, if I remember correctly, they dropped Niedhart by having Flair beat him on Superstars (or Wrestling Challenge, I can't remember) and then keep him locked in the Figure Four, giving him a kayfabe injury.

I definitely remember the angle with Flair and don't remember Anvil coming back any time soon after that.

Both Flair and the Beverly Brothers were kayfabe responsible for injuring Neidhart. Flair beat him in a match with the figure four and then kept it on long after the bell. Then as officials were helping Neidhart to the back, the Beverlys passed him in the aisle as they were making their way down for their squash match. They then decided to attack Neidhart for the hell of it and injured his leg more. Neidhart ended up getting taken off a TV for about a month before returning in December to form the New Foundation with Owen Hart, which only ended up lasting a few months as Anvil was let go shortly after the team was formed.
