On Smackdown they announced Hornswoggle as being from Dublin, this is where Sheamus is from in Ireland, but Finlay was announced as being from Belfast, which is in Northern Ireland.
Did Lillian mess up or is Northern Ireland just that hated?

Leprechauns are perceived as being more a symbol of Southern Ireland, as opposed to the Northern part. Being from Glasgow, you should appreciate the complexities surrounding this issue.

Glasgow's in Scotland, though... Exactly. And it shares an almost unique relationship with situations throughout Irish history.

Regardless of where leprechauns are known to be from, he's the kayfabe son of the Northern Irish Finlay.

She'd likely have been the one raising him while Finlay was fightin' round the world.

In that case it doesn't matter where the father is from.

Everytime Cole calls "Celtic Cross" for Sheamus' cross-bomb, I die a little inside.

When are WWE going to hire this guy back? Shouldn't the national anthem controversy thing have cooled down by now?

But yeah, I thought this would be a Daniel Bryan deal where 90 days later when everyone had forgot about the incident Finlay would be back in the WWE.
