I'd gotta go with the shotgunning of the Punk angle. He should have been kept off of TV for weeks, yet he was back in a week's time. They quickly turned what could have been the most memorable angle in maybe a decade into just another storyline in a hurry. and I stil say that a longer Punk absence would have just delegitimized his title reign. Remember Shawn vs Razor with the two IC title belts? No one took Shawn's claims to be IC champ seriously

They quickly turned what could have been the most memorable angle in maybe a decade into just another storyline in a hurry. Oh, my brotha', TESTIFY! Edit: Crap, I was reading through and there was a LOT of bad booking on all fronts. John Cena vs. Rey Mysterio as just a ratings bump. Jerry Lawler never getting complete closure in his "feud" with Michael Cole. Focusing more on the Rock (who is rarely there) than on guys who are there every week and shoring up their characters. The failure of the Corre to do ANYTHING. Big Zeke got three pushes and all of them failed. Hot-shot title switch to Alberto Del Rio that did him no favors. Punk's berating of Del Rio; hey, way to push him as a threat. Heath Slater & Justin Gabriel split up for...well, no good reason. "Discount Nexus". Dolph Ziggler's allergic reaction to the World title. Looking at it in hindsight, you Christian fans should be happy he got a main-event push at all - as that was one of the few booking decisions that made sense and actually interested people.

My vote will be anything Cole/Lawler from Wrestlemania and on. Though I do have to chime in the dumbest part about the post-MITB angle. So, the roster is pissed that HHH can't keep control of the company, which was a direct result of Miz and Truth assaulting everyone that happened to be inside Hell in a Cell once it went off the air. They take HHH off RAW GM duties and he is replaced with Laurinaitis, and enough of the roster is happy that the walkout is done. So what is one of the first things he does...bring back Miz and Truth! I don't even think the 10-10-11 RAW was as bad as everyone says it is, and even I got to admit that was stupid. You know, this is the first time I've actually thought about how stupid that was. I'm pretty disappointed in myself haha

Edge over Del Rio @ WrestleMania. Del Rio was MONEY going into Mania, and had all the momentum. He was a great character. Then he lost. It killed almost everything he had going for him. It resulted in his destiny speech, which had already been going on for 2 months, dragging for another 6 months after that and turning him into a segment that I groaned at every week because it was the same thing. Even though they tried to salvage it by giving him MITB and the title, he just hasnt felt the same since.

I can't speak on a ton, since I don't watch regularly, but I can certainly say that hotshotting Punk's return after MITB wasn't just a bad booking move in 2011, to me it was an all-time blunder.
Not to say things haven't turned out nicely for Punk; clearly, they have. But things could've been so much bigger. The Punk title win and disappearance flipped the wrestling world on it's ear. Lapsed fans like me came back or at least sat up and took notice; I know it got me to watch a full episode of Raw for the first time in over half a decade.
This was WWE's chance to signal to lapsed fans "We're different now; we won't just color-by-numbers so much, we're going to take creative chances and go in unexpected directions now and then", but by bringing him back right away and going right back to normal booking, it just lost it's steam completely. The aftermath with Trips and Nash just made everything worse.
Secondary choice, just because it was so very, very, disgustingly offensive to me and all my personal sensibilities (and it was on one of the TV's at the gym, so I found myself watching it the way people watch a train wreck): the horrific "walkout" angle and the subsequent burial of the entire roster by just four guys. Go to hell, WWE.

1. Triple H not turning heel against Punk 2. Christian losing the belt in TWO DAYS 3. Not finishing the Anonymous GM OR Conspiracy angles

- Adding Nash, Triple H, and Johnny Ace to the Cena/Vince/Punk storyline.
- Creating a second WWE championship
- Never explaining the computer GM angle.

- Destroying the aura of the mute unstoppable monster Kharma by having her break character and be mocked by the Bellas for being fat.
- Wasting the "Divas of Destruction" concept simply for the sake of pushing Kelly Kelly

RUNNERS UP:
Summer of Punk Fallout: I agree with a lot being said here. I was a staunch defender of the CM Punk angle even following Punk's return, through the Triple H feud, the Kevin Nash stuff, and so on. But now enough time's past where I can officially throw in the towel and say they dropped the ball there. Punk's edge is gone and while he's still fun to watch, he just is another character on the show basically.
The Walkout: I thought it was a really cool concept, that could have fleshed out a lot of characters on the roster, who is walking out, who is staying, what is the WWE gonna be like with half it's roster gone. There's a lot of stuff you could do with it without insulting the audience or attacking the credibility of the characters but the way they did it, did both things.
Christian's Heel Turn: Heaven forbid we let a guy who works hard have a feel good moment and let us at least enjoy for a while before hitting the panic button and going back to business as usual. Admittedly it's still seemed to raise Christian's stature in the WWE but I still wish Christian had a good run as a face.
Winner:
Wrestlemania 27: To me Wrestlemania 27 all together was the worst booking move of 2011. It had more return-business potential than the Summer of Punk. The Rock coming back had gotten a lot of attention and I ended up watching Wrestlemania with a bigger crowd than usual, consisting of a couple of guys I watch big PPVs with and some who haven't watched since the Attitude era and the show ended up being such a crying snore of an event. This could have been a great opportunity to showcase WWE at its best, show everyone who the Rock brought in that this is what they've been missing all these years, showcase new talent, great action that you know the roster is capable of and intense storytelling but there was hardly any of it. There were some good matches, one great match, but no inspired feuds, the most heated rivalry on the show was between commentators, on a night that should have been a home run.
There are times when I'm watching wrestling with casual fans where I feel like a guest to a party who brought a friend there for the first time and he's making a mess of himself to a point where you just have to apologize to everyone for killing the party. Wrestlemania did that to me, just dropped the ball on every level when they really needed a stellar show if they had any intention of retaining the audience that the Rock brought in.

I didn't list the whole Punk angle because I have to be honest....I'm not sure what I would have done would have been any better. The entire storyline of Punk trying to quit with the belt is one where he couldn't possibly succeed in the long run. He just couldn't. In fact I think WWE could have saved themselves a lot of bizarre booking if Del Rio had simply cashed in on him and maybe Vince and Laurinaitis screwed Punk in his hometown to get the belt off him and onto Del Rio. That would have gotten nuclear heel heat for Del Rio, made Punk a sympathetic babyface, cemented Vince and Johnny Ace as heel boss types, etc. Del Rio could fend off Cena for a while, then Punk finally gets his retribution at Survivor Series like he did anyway. Much simpler booking, no goofy HHH and Nash trash, no needless title changes.
In the end WWE kind of did a variation on what I would have done anyway, so I can't say it's the worst piece of booking of the year. Ironically I would say Punk has come out of it stronger than most of the other players in the storyline.

Whoever thought that Michael Cole and Jerry "The King" Lawler being booked into a feud was a good idea?

Just about all of them. This is the year (well, 2011 was.) that I finally moved on from WWE because I didn't enjoy anything that was going on. I recommend it, it's good for your blood pressure!

Really, anything that involved HHH outside of the Taker feud in 2011 is a contender. Whether it was helping to kill Voice of the Voiceless CM Punk's momentum, the godawful Nash feud, or the walkout that basically turned 95% of the roster heel, he always seemed to be involved in the worst stuff this year.

Miz's title reign.
Among the highlights: A TLC match with Lawler that he wins via screwjob. A *pay per view* defense against Lawler and then becoming a total afterthought in the Mania build.

I swear, there was a contest among creative to see who could torpedo his reign the worst.

The booking of John Morrison at the beginning of this year. From the start, they took away his Royal Rumble title match with Miz and put it on Raw instead, which was just stupid, as the match was awesome (WAY better than Miz vs. Orton). And even in doing so, Morrison shined in the Rumble match and in the Elimination Chamber, pulling all kinds of cool stunts that hadn't been seen before. He was insanely over with the crowd, and if there was ever a time to push him into the main event, that would have been it.
Instead, they put him in a match with Snookie at Wrestlemania. Now, he might have shot himself in the foot somewhat by snubbing Trish at Mania and maintaining his relationship with Melina. But c'mon! The guy was a afterthought to a D-list celebrity at the biggest show of the year! WWE didn't even give him a chance.

From afar it almost felt like having HHH come in as this big face was done to undermine Punk's rise. I wonder how much is Vince still controling things?
