Don't forget Christian's hurt too. Which is a tragedy, considering all he wanted was one more match.

waiting for breaking news Wade Barrett released...
Obviously I haven't seen the spot in question, I know they wouldn't risk tossing Orton down any amount of stairs. He had to be written off for one reason or the other. Regardless I hope the reports are true that he's out for 6 months. I find him terribly boring, and have ever since the legend Killer persona ended.

I know the disc thing was mentioned, but this is the first I've seen regarding up to 6 months out.

It all seems very suspicious and sudden... From the method of writing him off, to the time the news broke out, to how quick the WWE responded, to the speed of the diagnosis...
Something tells me this injury is not as legit as we really think.

Poor Orton. Not a huge fan but I hate to see someone hurt.

I dont ever want anyone to get hurt, especially with the great year that Orton has had but I think it is best considering I dont him in the running or winning the Rumble this year, especially with it being in his hometown. With the amount of talent that has been on the rise this year and other deserving legends that may return who havnt won the Rumble yet (*cough* Jericho) this is not the year for a 2 time winner of the Rumble.

I'm glad that a person getting injured is met with hope and allure for a better wrestling show around here.
Get well soon, Randy.

Something tells me this injury is not as legit as we really think. Or just not at all related to last night. It's not as if people haven't competed with that sort of injury in the past. Orton could have had it diagnosed a while back and then been asked to, and okayed, staying on a couple of weeks, not taking too many risks to put Barrett over on the way out, giving them a ready made feud/squash when Orton is fit again. And over the Xmas period, he'll have had a few days off to get scanned.

I'm happy I didn't not buy tickets to tonight's SD show in Detroit due to lack of interest in the two advertised matches Big Show/Henry and Barrett/Orton. Though with my luck Mark will make a miraculous comeback and I'll have the challenge of staying awake through Show/Henry part a billion.

RANDY ORTON UPDATE, SHOOTING DOWN A FALSE REPORT by Mike Johnson @ 3:12 PM on 12/28/2011
The ending to Smackdown for this Friday was dictated by Randy Orton's back issues. The injury was something Orton had been dealing with in recent weeks, so his match with Wade Barrett was company's way of writing the injury into the storylines.
While we do not have any update on the severity of the injury at this time, I want to note that an inaccurate report is floating around citing PWInsider.com as reporting Orton would miss Wrestlemania due to a slipped disc. Nothing of the sort was written or stated on either the free or Elite versions of PWInsider.com. Whoever published that report is stating an absolute lie, so remember that when you decide what outlets are legitimate and worth your time.

I have also noticed they limited Randy's action time a bit in the last week or so. Hope he heals up in time for the Rumble.
NOW if they want to start comparing him to the Rattlesnake, NOW is the perfect time to start! Have him RKO EVERYONE in sight from here to the Rumble.

Y'know, I think it's kind of telling how far Orton's fallen that this thread only has three pages at the moment. If this were the start of the year this would probably be huge.

I don't like the sound of anything with disks and backs. With Austin, Angle, and Edge...I cringe at the thought of any problems in that area. Hopefully he will be fine for Mania. The three you mention are actually discs and necks, not backs. You're right, but there are discs in the neck. There are discs located all up and down the spine.
