RIP to a great actor. Loved him on the Jeffersons. His appareances on Fresh Prince were also awesome, but the one thing I'll remember him for until the day I pass is his role in Mr. Nanny. He owned that movie and maybe it a decent flick.

I knew him from All In The Family, and liked him. Didn't watch much Jeffersons though, RIP. He's now reunited with Archie up there, blowing raspberries at each other.

Dang, he was living here and I never got to meet him! I mean, he even came to my highschool, and I still missed him. He is one of my favorite people. Rest in peace Sherman.

Well, damn. I used to love watching "The Jeffersons" and his back-and-forth banter with Florence. Always liked seeing him pop up in the odd role on TV and in movies, too. He was in one of my favorite 80's "Twilight Zone" episodes. He's had a good, full life.
Rest in peace, sir.

I honestly didn't even know he was still alive. I don't think I've actually seen him in anything since the Fresh Prince finale. I watched him on Surreal life. Seemed like a pretty cool guy.

He was hilarious, RIP. I always thought Amen was underrated.

Seemed like a pretty cool guy. yeah, but something was off, he had slury speech, and they had to use subtitles when they showed his confessionals

Never saw the Jeffersons so had to look for a picture of him. I remember him from Mr Nanny.

RIP to an entertainment legend! I'll never be able to watch Teddy Long walk without getting depressed again.

RIP. Amen was pretty good too. His appearances on Fresh Prince were great, both as the Judge rival of Uncle Phil and as George Jefferson.

He's responsible for one of my favorite insults of all time:
"I ought to cut off your face and make gorilla cookies."
Really saddened by his passing. Surprised (unless I missed it) nobody in this thread mentioned his great work in the award-winning motion picture Mr. Nanny as well as his cool cameo in this 2001 Nelly video:

Wow. That's only 10 minutes from where my mom lives. I didn't know he lived in the Montwood area.
