Dredd 3-D. because apparently it was awesome and I didn't get to see it and it did poorly at the box office so the local Famous Players ditched it after like 2 weeks and I was hoping I'd get to see it at the cheap theater but they never picked it up.
as for movies I actually saw that sucked, Dark Shadows was utterly forgettable. I still don't even know what the plot was, it kept jumping around so much. and Depp was acting like he was in a completely different movie than everyone else.

- Dark Shadows - I'm a Burton/Depp mark but good god this was a mess of a movie - DKR - I liked it but i still found it disappointing for a few reasons - Piranha 3DD - I really enjoyed "Pranha 3D" but 3DD was just abysmal. Seriously one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

To me Dark Shadows wasn't awful just disappointing, I liked some aspects - Acting - Eva Green - Burton's visual style - Soundtrack but - The Story was messy - Pointless characters that waste good actors - Unbalanced tone - Collins (Depp) having a cockney accent despite being from Liverpool

I didn't say it was good. I'll probably add it to my list of disappointing films. The setup had a lot of potential but the execution missed the mark.

I don't know if I would actually classify is as disappointing, but I have a really strange relationship with Prometheus right now. Alien fans, including me, had ridiculous expectations for it and maybe expectations that nothing could have met. But it's such an odd film. I'm not sure what to make of it even now, and yet I still went out and bought the combo pack. I'd call it disappointing, cuz it was a terrible movie. Incredible visuals, terrible movie. That'd probably the top one for me.

I actually only saw 6 movies in theaters this year - 21 Jump Street, The Hunger Games, The Avengers, Brave, The Amazing Spider-Man, and The Dark Knight Rises.
I was very disappointed in both The Hunger Games and, like the OP said, Brave. I also wasn't as big of a fan of 21 Jump Street as the rest of the world seemed to be. All the comic book movies definitely delivered though.

I've been very much wanting to see Piranha 3DD for a while now. And honestly? It's pretty much entirely due to all the bad reviews. Well, that and Danielle Panabaker. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)

The Bourne Legacy was disappointing. Jeremy Renner was good, as I expected him to be, but nothing really happens in the movie. It was a bit boring and the ending was sudden.

I haven't seen many. However, The Hunger Games fell apart as a film once the games commenced. Horrid shaky camera work gave me a headache.

Amazing Spider-Man had a terrible script, was very ugly visually, had boring action and an unpleasant vibe.

It's weird I guess I haven't seen much movies this year afterall. A lot of movies I had low expectations to didn't deliver and I didn't hate any of the big time movies except for Skyfall. Killing Them Softly was somewhat dissappointing for how slow it was at times and the pacing was easy to lose track of sometimes and somethings just felt pointless in the movie since it seems the movie was built on the last sentence of the movie. Like it wasn't bad but nowhere near the top 10 movies of the year it's built upon.

As a huge Joss Whedon fan, I was pretty underwhelmed by Avengers. The whole thing felt like one big mess and with exception of Ruffalo's portrayal of Banner - I was very disappointed by so much of the script and action.
I know it was the highest grossing film of 2012, but it just fell really flat for me.
It didn't help that I felt Capt America and Thor were probably two of the worst Marvel films in recent memory.

Brave, I love Pixar and had high hopes for it and while it wasn't bad it was just okay.

Dark Knight and Prometheus were good, but could have easily been great with just a few different decisions.
Didn't expect much from Amazing Spider-Man, and got even less. That would have been my choice until....
Lincoln. I seriously think there is some automatic equation of "Spielberg+DDL+Lincoln" that happens in people's brains that makes them assume something that's as uninspiring and by-the-numbers as any biopic/historical drama I've seen is some majestic masterpiece.

Savages really sucked. I couldn't believe by how bad the acting was in it. Blake Lively & Aaron Taylor-Johnson were real bad in it. Taylor Kitsch was okay. Del Toro & Travolta were pretty good though, but they couldn't save the movie. Also, all the characters in the movie weren't likable at all. Some you were supposed to dislike, but Taylor-Johnson & especially Blake Lively were extremely unlikable in it. Oliver Stone could do so much better than this.

Prometheus. I was THAT guy at the cinema who had to verbalise his frustration when the credits rolled by saying "OH COME ON!"
Everything else I saw matched or outdid expectations cinema wise though, so not a bad year on the whole.

I have similar feelings toward it, i was disappointed right after seeing it, but then I found myself thinking about it more and more for weeks after seeing it. So it somehow permeated and stimulated my imagination and wonder, the sign of good sci-fi.

Agreeing with those who said ASM. My first exposure to it was at a drive-in, and I hated the first thirty minutes of it, where Peter pretty damn much showed everyone "Hey, I'll probably be Spider-Man in the next few weeks". The script really was weak and I couldn't feel any sympathy at all for the characters, least of all; {Spoiler}Captain Stacy, who took up the Jonah role as completely hating Spider-Man and wanting the police to focus on capturing him instead of searching for whatever the hell was tearing up a bridge. That said, and I need to watch it again just in case, but I was also underwhelmed with Dark Knight Rises. Three hour movie, about two hours and thirty minutes of things happening without Batman. I know that's a petty criticism, but everything else felt like padding to justify having the film be as long as it was. And IT'S ending drove me up a wall as well.
