I've always wondered, what makes something a creepy pasta? The term is a portmanteau of "creepy" and "copypasta." Originally, it was horror microfiction shared on the internet; sort of the Web equivalent to sharing scary stories around the campfire. Now it seems tip just be any original horror fiction, tending towards being short, but some are longer. Also, I like Candle Cove; I just chose to list unmentioned CPs.

I've always wondered, what makes something a creepy pasta? Basically, it's the Internet equivalent of a campfire story.

Why was I not informed about this thread? Oh, yeah, that's why. Gimme $20. Anyone here read "John Dies At the End"? It's basically an extremely long, ridiculous Creepypasta.

I have, that book is insane and fun and entirely ridiculous. I'll throw my name in the hat of people that enjoy the creepypasta, one of my favorites that I don't think has been mentioned is "The Song and Dance Man", one of the few times I've read something and had that jealous writer thought "I wish I had thought of this."

I know people love Ben Drowned but I always felt it tries way, WAY too hard.
Candle Cove is great though.

I think a lot of the love comes from the ARG, I know I has a blast with my crew before it all fell apart. I'll add that I also love Candle Cove but most of the spinoffs are horrible. Just awful.

That's because Kris Straub is a truly gifted writer (also wrote Candle Cove) - however, I would say that it falls into plain old horror, as opposed to Creepypasta, being quite Bradburyesque.

I recall a database that was presented as a fake super-secret experiment database. One was the machine that enhanced things and caused a guard to like, explode or something. And another that was a being that made people feel pure bliss.

Is Kris Straub any relation to Peter Straub? Probably not but it would make sense.

And another that was a being that made people feel pure bliss. That would be the SCP Foundation - my favorite is SCP-085: Hand-drawn "Cassy". Pretty sure Kris Straub is no relation, but it does seem odd that he appears to have co-authored a book with Peter Straub. Then again, so has Stephen King, more than once, and they ain't kin.

Does anyone know of the one where this guy can bring drawings to life. Then he uses them to perform shows to make himself rich.

Am reading through some of the posted ones now. The Portraits, The Other Watcher and Wake Up are really good, short but creepy I've never really liked the Slenderman stories though which are really popular. I just don't find them to be that creepy or interesting at all. They're just lame... Wake Up, that is genuinely creepy. Loved that one
