[NOAH News] Kenta Kobashi (45) came out to address the rumors surrounding him this week and the future of his career. He says the Tokyo Sports coverage of him was negative, but at the same time the injuries to his neck and left arm are a major setback. With his own judgement, Kobashi said that recovery is impossible despite any surgery he may undergo…and he has indeed DECIDED TO RETIRE. Kobashi said that wrestling is his life, and he thanked all the fans who have supported him over the years. Then he said he plans to stand in the ring once again if he can reach the form to do so. Kobashi will hold his retirement match on February 26, which alsomarks his 25th Anniversary as a Pro Wrestler. There was no clear indication if this will be an actual match, or if his retirement will center around the show. I guess it all depends on how things go within the next month or so. Kobashi said he would like to compete at least 1 more time, if nothing else. keepingthespiritalive.tumblr.com/post/37550813818/noah-news-kenta-kobashi-45-came-out-to-address

I'll definitely go out of my way to see that match. Kobashi has always been one of my all-time favorites.

One of the greatest wrestlers ever and I'm happy that he's stepping away before he becomes another tragedy.
I hope he has one more awesome match and then lives the good life.

Kobashi is the reason I started to keep up with Puro. There will never be another Kobashi and I will miss him greatly. He's had a helluva career and deserves a big send-off. Hope he gets it.

Good. He should have announced his retirement immediately following the Misawa tragedy, but I'm glad Kobashi is smart enough to get out now before he passes the point of no return. He will go down as one of the greatest performers in wrestling history, as well as being involved in arguably the greatest tag match of all-time.
I've heard rumors that he may not wrestle on the 2/26 show, but rather have the main event match dedicated to him, followed by a retirement ceremony. I think the only match in which he could be involved would be a six-man tag with him tagging in occasionally for a few offensive spots before tagging out again.

I'd like to see a retirement match. Maybe a big singles match in a massive arena. It screams profit to me and Kobashi could probably come away with a nice big profit to take into the next chapter of his life.

Kobashi is one of my all-time favorites, and I'm so glad to see that he's decided to listen to what his body is telling him, and retire on his own terms. The man is a god in Japan, and there's nothing that he has left to accomplish.

The latest rumour is it will be him and Kensuke Sasaki vs. Keiji Muto and Masahiro Chono. Also, since Kobashi is on such bad terms with NOAH, he'll be co-promoting it with New Japan and All Japan instead. NOAH cannot be considered anywhere near major league anymore.

Wow. What an awesome video for an awesome wrestler. If those chops don't cave your chest in, you better believe that will give it a hell of a workout.

Kenta Kobashi is one of the all time greats and I'm just glad he didn't end his career the same way Misawa did from all the punishment his body has taken over the years.
That Kobashi/Sasaki vs Mutoh/Chono main event sounds nothing short of epic. I wish Akiyama was involved, but it will be great nonetheless.
One final show ended with Grand Sword blaring over the P.A. is a must though.

The final match now won't be on February 26th, I guess they couldn't secure Budokan for then. It's likely to be in May now.

The Undertaker at Wrestlemania Nah, I've always wanted to see Kobashi vs. HHH for some reason. I bet that it would be an excellent match.

Those spinning chop to the face looked downright brutal. Damn, would not want to be on the recieving end of those no matter how much wrestling experience.
