Batman? Couldn't fit it all.
Yeah, another Batman thread - I've been on a Batman kick lately. ;D
But I was thinking - Nolan's done with the movies, which means somebody'll pick it up in a few years. I was thinking of actors I personally would like to see play Batman, or at least ones I think might do a decent job and Johnny Depp came to mind. Thing is, even though I love Johnny Depp, I'm not sure if he'd make a good Batman.
I say I'm not sure because on paper it doesn't sound great, but Depp is one of (IMO) the most versatile actors around - and he's played a multitude of very different roles throughout his career - and most of them have been hits (to me).
But as Batman - I'm not sure. So, for discussion's sake - I turn it to you, FAN.
Johnny Depp as Batman - yay or nay?

I would've liked to have seen his take on the Joker, one that he described as being in love with Batman.
Though, we got Heath's and, as much as I don't like the movie as a whole, that was a phenomenal performance.

Honestly, I could maybe believe Depp as Bruce Wayne. Maybe not so much as Batman.

Yeah, like others have said, I see Depp more as the Riddler than Batman.
While Depp is probably talented enough to pull it off, I just don't think he could bring the physical, dark presence that Batman needs.

Could he play a good Batman? Sure. But would his talents be best used playing a villain like Joker or Riddler? Absolutely.
If I had to pick the most ideal Bruce Wayne/Batman, I'd go with Viggo Mortensen. He could pull off the physically, the dark/brooding persona, and emotional range to display the tragedy of the character.

I'd be interested to see his take on the role. I'm not the biggest Depp fan, but if he did something similar to what he did in Public Enemies, he might be able to make it work.

Do we REALLY want Burton directing again and Helena Bonham Carter as Oracle?
(You can't tell me that wouldn't be how we got a Depp-Helmed Batman movie)

Not to knock Cillian Murphy, but he would have been an ideal Nolan Scarecrow.
Of course, to get the max value out of his performance/box office muscle, he would need to be written as a more formidable character alongside Ra's and given five minutes more screentime, and no jobbing to tasers.

Definitely not as Batman. When he was younger he could have been Robin. I think he could be great as Riddler if he played it straight. I don't like goofy Johnny Depp, i.e. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

he'd be terrible. Depp's a favorite of mine but I have a feeling he'd camp it up if you got him to play a superhero and wouldn't be able to take the character seriously.
there's certainly some superVILLAINS he'd be good at playing, though.

Depp's played stoic tough guys before (Donnie Brasco, John Dillinger) and done a good job, so I'm sure he'd have enough common sense not to play Batman like Mad Hatter or Jack Sparrow. His only hurdle would be the physical aspect- he's already an ideal Bruce Wayne, but I think he'd need to put on some more muscle to pull off Bats.

I think he could do, but I dont think I'd want to see him do it.
He'd be a great villain but I'm not sure he has a strong enough chin for Batman
