Meaning, voting for who they wanted instead of voting for the internet favorite.

Man. That's a stretch and a half.
"The result of a meaningless wrestling award voted on an iphone app is one reason why DEMOCRACY as a whole is broken." Whaaaaaaaaaat?

Meaning, voting for who they wanted instead of voting for the internet favorite. He means voting for the kayfabe best superstar of the year, instead of voting for your favorite wrestler.

Man. That's a stretch and a half. "The result of a meaningless wrestling award voted on an iphone app is one reason why DEMOCRACY as a whole is broken." Whaaaaaaaaaat? LOL, it does sound bad when you put it like that; but I actually meant that people not voting for more qualified candidates because "they prefer" the other guy is kind of an epidemic in all forms of voting these days. The relevancy of the award is not really my point, so much as I was saying that way too many people vote lately for reasons that should be irrelevant; you know, like say (without making it too political) that someone might vote or not vote for Obama because he's black --rather than his politics/issues. We know that happens, but it's stupid and unfair. Or from an Entertainment perspective, look at say Dancing with the Stars, and Bristol Palin awhile back. She SUCKED. But a contingent of people still kept voting her to stay anyway, for whatever ridiculous reason, despite this. What should have been a vote on who was best, or performed best, or whatever the criteria is in deciding a winner, is often disregarded. And someone like Bristol kept going because of this skewed and prejudice inability to allow someone more deserving to prevail. Merit SHOULD ALWAYS (even if it's fake merit, as the presentation of wrestling dictates) triumph over popularity. If Cena didn't have such a kayfabe bad year, I'd have never even brought this up.

Most people will treat polls like this as a popularity contest and vote for their favorites regardless of the kayfabe year they've had. Pretty much. Good point
