I looked it up and Zetterberg didn't debut until the next season but still they were f***ing ridiculous. It was Scotty Bowman's last year as a coach the greatest coach in hockey and one of the greatest in sports history period. Hasek was in net with Legace as a backup. For your top 9 forwards you had Shanahan, Federov, Brett Hull, A Rookie Datsyuk, Yzerman finally recovering from his knee surgery and returning to form, Igor Larinov, Holmstrom, Kris Draper, and Luc Robitallie.
Your top 4 D was Lidstrom, Chelios, Duchesne, and Fischer. You had so many veteran players who are still good playing like mad to finally win their first cup in their long illustriousness careers so they played mad as hell in the playoffs. Oh Vancouver is leading us 2-0 in the opening round, f*** you I want my f***ing cup. Win 4 games in a row in dominating fashion. LOL ST. LOUIS? Oh Colorado you're leading us 3-2? Well I Hasek am going to shut you out for the next 2 games in a row while we score a combined 9 goals against you during those two games. Carolina you win OT, well f*** you for wasting my time you're done.
They have a special place in my heart because it was the playoff series that really got me into hockey rather than watching it casually and only fanatically in the playoffs.
You know, you can thank the good ol' Kings for the creation for that team. Wings upper management was furious that we beat them the year before in the first round and reloaded like mad men (as we clearly saw) during the off-season.
And one of the men they stole during that off season was Luc Robitaille
