A week or so ago, I gave the woman I have feelings for a Christmas present, and I asked her to wait until Christmas to open it. Inside said Christmas present is a romantic gift and a poem I wrote for her. Earlier today, I signed onto Facebook and discovered that she has a brand new boyfriend. So, if someone could point me towards the nearest rock or rock-like object that I could hide under while I work up the ability to laugh this off and go back to being just a run-of-the-mill friend again, I'd appreciate it.

The alternative is drink your ass off (provided you're of age), and then laugh

Ouch.
Depending on how she takes that, you could be about to lose a friend...

I'm sorry but I'm laughing my ass off right now, this is the kind of luck I would have. The best thing to do is to give her a call or text and talk to her. Try to laugh off the awkwardness and own the move you made.

Pretty much 9/10 of all girls I had a crush on apparently had boyfriends. Hate when that happens.

I'm sorry to hear that. I wouldn't hide though. It seems hard right now, but you gonna have to dust yourself off and move on.

I would laugh it off and say that you accidentally mixed up her gift that was meant for another chick. When she questions why she shares the same name, just say something like "You're not the only person on Earth with that name. Jeez, conceited much?". 60% of the time, it works every time.

This....Isn't such a bad idea. You could ring/text her and say you've given her the wrong present before she opens it, and say you'll get her real gift to her after you've had time to buy a new one?

Yeah, act all befuddled when she gets it. And pretend it was some zany sitcom like mixup.
Or somehow get her new boyfriend arrested on some disgusting charges.

It'll likely not even be brought up by her.
Women are like that.

It'll likely not even be brought up by her. Women are like that. Pretty much this. To anyone that says he'll loss a friend over it. It's not true all the time. If she mature enough too see that you care about her and put a lot of thought into it. Sure you may not get what you want out of it i a relationship. trust me I been there. I brought a romantic gift for my female friend last year and this year for that matter. While last year I knew she was in a rocky relationship with a guy. It did it because I wanted her too feel special. The relationship was not good and she should have ended it a lot sooner then she did. I knew he was treating her wrong because how she was around the time. Not herself at times. Not granted this situation is different. Point is I never lost a friend over it. She loved the gift and it meant a lot too her. She may see you as a carrying friend more then anything.

Might turn out ok, man. It is a magical time of the year and all. At the very least if she's a good friend like I think she is she'll appreciate the sentiment.
And if not, your least favorite comic character is always here for ya.

Challenge her new boyfriend to a duel. When he declines, ridicule him in front of her. She'll be impressed.
If he accepts, start studying dueling.

HOW romantic it is? You can still say that is how you feel about their friendship

Romantic enough that it should be obvious how I feel, but not specific enough that I can't try to pass it off as a friendly gesture. Might turn out ok, man. It is a magical time of the year and all. I will gladly slap hands with you on this matter.
Even if you are a filthy, dirty Bucky-Cap lover.
