That's only a problem if you don't enjoy the variety show though. Then again, the "variety show" has always been at the core of the company. The Rock & Wrestling Era is proof enough of this. Don't get me wrong, I f***ing love the variety show more than the wrestling itself To be fair, we've had a couple of Raws, SmackDowns, and a PPV ending with a heel triumphant. I understand that faces win most of the time, and especially when heels hold most of the belts but you have to have at least one heel win to have some sort of suspense in the matches. Oh yeah, totally. But I feel like people don't watch Christmas specials for suspense - it's the one time of the year where the good guys should always win. It's like, maybe 364 times out of 365 the bad guys stood a chance of winning--maybe they would win all of those days. But not during Christmas. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I actually prefer stuff to be done like that.

It was so awful and corny it became epic to me.
Plus Big Show singing during his matches was fantastic.

WTF are you talking about? This was the ONLY show they have done like this in over a year. This show was the most obvious, but it's a theme that's been running in WWE for a while now. The guest hosts were the start of it. It's continued with "social media ambassadors", Twitter/Tout obsessions, and a greater emphasis placed on everything being "entertainment". I don't understand the whole "Wrestling vs. Sports Entertainment" argument when professional wrestling by definition, is a form of entertainment.

Del Rio's intense battle cry before throwing the teddy bear was gold! that (of course Cena no sold getting a BEAR thrown at him!!! <outrage etc...>) oh and the bowling ball part where cena was looking at it all confused until he noticed the compromising position del rio was in -the "you killed santa" chant from the car after del rio hit Santa. -Kane's new diet plan. -Ricardo ignoring his attack (and his tearful del rio intro before the match) on Cena to run over to hug Santa only to get hit in the head with the box of toys -Bryan FINALLY getting a slammy. - Drew McIntyre gesturing timidly towards the ring when Big Show got thrown out of the ring for the first time on the side 3MB was standing - AJ's christmas story reading turing it to a rant on all her ex-es - Big Show singing christmas carols - even the recap of Miz trying to get to the bottom of Kermit and Miss Piggy's relationship got a chuckle kept trying to figure out who santa was - was thinking Duggan so he could "HOOOOOOOO! HOOOOOOO! HOOOOOOO!" until they dropped the Foley hints at the end. but yeah i barely hit the FF at all this episode (most of the 12 man tag match and the ryder/otunga match) edit- just saw this in another thread and can;t believe i forgot it. "Use the tree!"

RAW's top 3 highest rated segments ever, are not wrestling matches

It was alright. But it was interesting to see Del Rio was the one taking the Santa-injury angle seriously. His acting was pretty good.
Cena may have well literally winked at the camera throughout his entire promo backstage.

I'm sick of Santa showing up once a year an going straight into main-event angles, at least when other old stars come back they have decent matches. He's 140 and he's fat. I had a photo of him on my wall as a kid, I'm in my mid 20s now. Let him go.
They could have used that main-event to put over somebody like Alex Riley instead of a fat guy with a rubbish catchphrase that's never had a five-star match.
I don't think Santa has put anybody over since Austin either but I couldn't find anything on his Wikipedia page and couldn't find his bio on WWE.com so I'm not sure.

They could have used that main-event to put over somebody like Alex Riley instead of a fat guy with a rubbish catchphrase that's never had a five-star match. the important question here is-I don't think Santa has put anybody over since Austin either but I couldn't find anything on his Wikipedia page and couldn't find his bio on WWE.com so I'm not sure. hey santa's just giving back to his fans who grew up with him over the years. and it was just one episode on RAW and he was lying half dead in the back for most of it! it's not like he was headlining PPVs. it's like Undertaker wrestling once a year now. And Santa was never one to put out anything more than a 3 star match anyway, as a wise man <cough> Scott Steiner<cough> said "he's fat!" how much technical wrestling are you expecting here? i think his profile was in the alumni section though. maybe they took it down and Kris Kringle will be appearing in the Impact Zone soon? on the other hand when he came back out at the end he didn;t really sell getting hit by that car and needed an international object to take out Ricardo with a shot from a bag of "presents". if this guy's such a big legend he shouldn;t have needed to resort to such tactics- kinda jerkass of him. the big question though is- will being taken out by Santa ruin Ricardo's gimmick?
