Tech support that can do ANYTHING the hero wants in under two minutes, nothing is too secure for their ultra-fast typing and sarcasm. Luckily a few TV shows have realised this and have started to show them getting caught/unable to hack things etc which makes the characters more believable.
The asshole that points out all the other characters flaws, it's not so much that character's fault but the writers using them to tell the audience rather than just showing it.

Honestly, aside from River Song, I must say I don't really see it. Bad Wolf Rose,DoctorDonna,Super Memory Amy. Donna and Amy got the odd episode but I didn't really feel it was all about them. As for Bad Wolf, it was a story arc that remained rather restrained the whole time until the end of the season.

Whiny characters such as Hope, Dawn, Connor, Anakin etc.
Nobody likes a whiner. Having to read/watch/listen to a whiny annoying git is not entertaining at all.

The klutzy career woman who always has a phone at her ear, falls constantly, and the boss always falls in love with. She often has to juggle an unrealistically demanding career (which is never defined beyond "the office") with personal responsibilities (like missing a date....not going to a kid's baseball game etc...). She usually lives in New York.

The 98 lbs character that can outfight anyone. Even when in real life, they couldn't even draw the bow/hold the sword/throw a punch that could break paper.

Here's a two-for-one. The fat bumbling husband who lucks into scoring a beautiful, intelligent wife.
Only she turns out to be a domineering harridan who wants to change everything about her husband because he's a fat, unenlightened idiot.
Why the hell did they marry each other in the first place?

The walking encyclopedia. As in the characters that are fluent in just about every language known to man and knows literally everything. The only things they can't seem to do is properly interact with other humans. Prime example, Reid on Criminal Minds. He was bad enough but the show just had to go and replace Prentiss with a female Reid, so the show now has two of these characters in the main cast and that makes the show damn near impossible for me to watch now. Honestly I was reading this again and it kinda of got to me for a personal reason

The villain that planned out everything that ever happened in the story. Even when the hero wins, it was "all part of the plan". This describes the joker in the dark knight, but it really irritated me in the movie Oldboy. It made the whole thing pointless.

As for Bad Wolf, it was a story arc that remained rather restrained the whole time until the end of the season. each character literally has the universe mould itself around them. The end of season 4 basically describes Donna as being the most important person ever. The whole of season 5 basically describes Amy as being the most important person ever. I still love the show but I really dislike the one upmanship of each season x

I suppose at least these people actually did stuff during their run, as opposed to River Song who we're supposed to find awesome because the writers decided she is.

The Joker works for me because his boat plan failed because he underestimated Gotham citizens which is really an emotional payoff for every plan that did work out for him. Furthermore, his Two-Face backup plan was at least set up earlier in the film. Old Boy, on the other hand, was contrived BS through and through with no set ups for the conclusion and ridiculous character actions.

I can't stand characters that are too good to be true. They're so noble and understanding and accepting of everyone and they're completely flawless in every way. Yeah, right.

wangsty crybaby villains who commit horrible atrocities that the writer thinks are somehow sympathetic or that the character can still be redeemed (see Sasuke Uchiha or Superboy-Prime, though at least Geoff Johns eventually conceded that Prime was beyond saving and killed him off in a pretty funny and mean-spirited manner. Sasuke on the other hand is still around and the writer is clearly enamoured with him to the point where I can't even take Naruto seriously anymore. and other than Sasuke I LIKED Naruto). Prime didn't die He got imprisoned in the Source Wall.......Till Flashpoint even the most ardent New 52 hater has to concede "hey, at least Superbitch-Prime is gone". that said I still think his initial heel turn in Infinite Crisis was great, even if it did precipitate a bunch of ugly trends in superhero comics.

-The Hitman with a conscience. The one who kills only bad guys and not women or children. -The 90 pound chick in leather who can beat up 250 pound muscle-bound men with KARATE -The fat slob with the hot wife -The wife who has to chase her husband around for sex -The dad who is an asshole because he works too much to provide for his family. -Kids who talk like adults
And not a character per se, but people who get shot and just walk it off, not bleeding to death or going into shock or anything.

Godly Hackers. These were especially annoying in Live Free Or Die Hard. They can do ANYTHING from hack into the most sophisticated computer systems known to man, to change the type of sandwich John McClane is eating...while he's friggin' eating it!
